PURPOSE: The Manager of Charter Sales is responsible for developing the charter sales program for the airline and establishing Avelo as a leader in commercial airline charters by providing outstanding customer service in successfully negotiating bids to operate a wide variety of charter flights, and coordinating with legal, contracts, and operations teams to ensure the best charter customer experience. This position will report to the Head of Network Planning.

Responsibilities

  • Build a strong reputation in the charter business for Avelo Airlines by developing its charter sales program, and educating charter contacts, brokers, etc. in the charter industry to build awareness of Avelo as a willing and superior provider in the charter business.
  • Establish routine discussions with charter brokers, sports teams, US government, military, other airlines/ACMI etc. resulting in regular inquiries to Avelo for charter quotes and/or proposals for both one time and repeating charter opportunities.
  • Maximize profitability of aircraft downtime by actively pursuing charters for unassigned aircraft time and update monthly charter revenue projections based on forecasted vs. actual charter activities and coordinating monthly capacity allocation with network planning for proper balance of scheduled service vs. charter opportunities to meet or exceed revenue targets placed on charter activity.
  • Coordinate with the Operations team to ensure charter customers’ expectations are met through successful operation of charters on time and within operating budget and generating repeat business from the same charter customers.
  • Build processes and workflows to continuously improve charter sales and operations processes/logistics.
  • Hire Charter Analysts when needed to meet workload requirements as charter business grows,
  • Continuously ensure that customer needs are met while keeping incremental costs low including the number of customers and flights coordinated per month per charter, the number of bids for military, government, sports charters, etc. per analyst and manager.
  • Decide which charters and customers to pursue contracts with and coordinate services to be provided by Avelo in each charter scenario.
  • Advocate revenue value of charter programs vs scheduled service plans to decide instances where scheduled service is reduced in favor of a firm, more profitable charter opportunity.


Requirements

  • 3+ years in commercial airline charter sales or similar relevant experience.
  • 4-year degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, etc. or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Excel, especially in building and maintaining models.
  • Proficient user of flight scheduling software, such as AirFlite or Oasis.
  • Strong research and negotiation skills, with charter customers on requirements of flight, and with 3rd parties (fueler/fuel consortium, ground and/or above wing handling, catering, hotels and ground transportation for crew, airport selection that meets operational capabilities for Avelo-sized aircraft, etc.)
  • Deep understanding of all aspects of the resources needed to operate a charter flight, with extra emphasis on flight crew requirements.
  • Ability to communicate and understand needs from stakeholders across the organization.
  • Operates with a high degree of integrity and practices extreme ownership and transparency.
  • Ability to work varied hours/weekends to complete projects to meet customer requirements and/or meet deadlines.
  • Ability to travel to/from Houston Avelo Support Center and to client locations as needed.
