Summary
Translate customer requests into the optimal product (technical design) to be produced based on optimal process parameters to deliver a cost quotation that guarantees cost efficiency, functionality and product quality. Implement new developments (technology, process, material,…) related to manufactured products in our Manufacturing sites (global). Support Product Managers, R&D and Product Designers in the product development projects.
Main responsibilities
• Defining of optimal production parameters (machines, process parameters, technology, materials,…) to make product cost calculations for customer requests related to be produced at our Manufacturing sites (Hoogstraten, Thailand, United States).
• Evaluate technical feasibility of new product designs or concepts proposals.
• Challenge manufacturing in implementing new process, technology and product opportunities.
• Advise on potential improvements of product specifications & process parameters to improve profitability/competitiveness.
• Contributing to propositions for innovative developments to Product Management and R&D teams.
• Work on a project basis on the implementation of selected (proactive) developments.
• Support & review the implementation of ‘new’ products (reactive and proactive developments) into internal and outsourced production. Follow up of the implementation is the responsibility of the related Manufacturing Managers.
• Responsible for the Mold Specification Form and coordination of sampling of new products.
• Search for and evaluate the application of new technologies (products, machines, molds, equipment, processes, materials,…).
• Investigate in depth the possibilities of selected technologies & materials.
• Establish process parameters of new technologies & materials to achieve a controlled production process.
• Identify and contribute to business cases of future technology investments (machines, molds, equipment, processes, materials,…) to leverage the company’s competitive edge.
• Support Product Management/Product Design/Commercial (Support) team/Procurement/R&D in technical issues or requests.
• Support Quality Department in quality issues (internal/external) related to technical product issues.
MAJOR CHALLENGES:
• Impact profitability by defining new ways of producing, weight savings, more optimal production parameters, new materials…
• Make propositions for developments to product management /development team and implement the selected developments.
• Speed to market – reply on customer requests Requirements
• Engineering education – Minimum bachelor degree (Industrial Engineer, Process Engineer)
• Knowledge and work experience within an engineering position related environment is a plus.
• Knowledge within the plastic food packaging industry is a plus.
• Knowledge in the Injection Molding Technology is a plus.
• In depth knowledge of the Injection Molding process
• Knowledge of plastic materials
• Knowledge of statistics and statistic process control
• Project management • Computer and software knowledge (Microsoft Word – Excel – Outlook - Teams …)
• Project worker capable of motivating the project members and together achieving the goals.
• Analytical, cost calculations
• Able to structure clusters of information to a clear overview
