Johnson Service Group, a nationwide staffing company is looking for an experienced 2nd Machinist III. Someone with advanced milling and gear manufacturing experience to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled machinist capable of independently setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and producing precision components utilizing CNC and conventional milling equipment. This is a Temp-Direct job for an Aerospace company in Valencia, CA. Pay Rate: $40.00 HR This position is for 2ND shift This role requires extensive experience machining gears, splines, and other precision transmission components while maintaining strict adherence to quality and safety standards. Responsibilities: Independently set up, program edits, and operates CNC and conventional milling machines. Manufacture precision gears, splines, shafts, pinions, and related transmission components to blueprint specifications. Interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, process sheets, and work instructions. Perform gear cutting operations utilizing hobbing, shaping, milling, or related machining processes. Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, cutting parameters, and machining strategies to maximize efficiency and quality. Conduct first article, in-process, and final dimensional inspections using precision measuring instruments. Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend process improvements. Maintain compliance with quality standards, including documentation and inspection requirements. Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to resolve manufacturing challenges. Train and mentor Machinist I and II employees. Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with company safety procedures. Qualifications: Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Technical school or machinist apprenticeship preferred. Minimum 3+ years of machining experience in a manufacturing environment. Minimum 3+ years of advanced CNC milling experience. Minimum 3+ years of gear manufacturing or gear machining experience. Demonstrated ability to perform full machine setups independently. Experience with manual internal and external gear shaping and hobbing is preferred; however, training can be provided. Strong knowledge of machining principles, cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and materials. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T. Experience using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, height gauges, and other precision inspection equipment. Proficient with shop mathematics, trigonometry, and geometric calculations. Weekend Shift (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) 3/12 shift 6:00AM - 6:30PM Preferred Qualifications Experience with aerospace, defense, power transmission, or precision gear manufacturing. Experience with gear hobbing, gear shaping, gear inspection, and gear measurement techniques. Familiarity with AGMA gear quality standards. CNC programming experience (Fanuc, Mazatrol, Haas, Siemens, or similar controls). Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement experience. Forklift and crane operation experience.
