At Qantas, we're shaping the future of aviation through one of the most ambitious fleet renewal and growth programs in the industry. We are seeking an exceptional aviation executive to lead our aircraft procurement, fleet trading and asset lifecycle strategy across the Qantas Group.
As
Head of Fleet Procurement & Aircraft Trading, you'll be responsible for driving the commercial strategy and execution of aircraft acquisition, trading, leasing and disposal activities across a fleet portfolio of approximately 340 aircraft. This is a unique opportunity to influence enterprise-wide decisions, lead negotiations with the world's largest aerospace manufacturers, and deliver significant value outcomes for one of Australia's most iconic brands.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the Group's long-term fleet procurement and aircraft trading strategy.
- Lead the Group's acquisition, trading, leasing and fleet phase-out activities with airframe and engine OEMs, lessors and aircraft trading partners.
- Provide strategic advice and recommendations to senior executives on fleet investment, asset valuation and commercial risks.
- Own the full lifecycle of the Group's major airframe and engine purchase agreements – structuring, negotiating, executing and amending, as required, and managing contractual obligations and commercial outcomes.
- Lead cross-functional teams across Finance, Treasury, Engineering, Commercial, Legal and Strategy.
- Develop high-performing teams and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability and commercial excellence.
- Drive sustainable value creation through innovative procurement and asset management approaches.
About You
We're looking for a commercially astute leader with deep aviation industry expertise and a proven track record delivering large-scale aircraft fleet procurement and asset management outcomes.
You'll Bring
- Extensive experience leading aircraft procurement and/or aircraft trading activities.
- Demonstrated success structuring, negotiating and executing complex, high-value commercial transactions, including major aircraft and engine purchases.
- Strong contract discipline with a proven track record managing major aircraft and engine purchase agreements within an airline, lessor or OEM.
- Strong financial and commercial acumen, including fleet economics, asset valuation and business case development.
- Experience influencing executive stakeholders and presenting recommendations at Board or Executive level.
- Exceptional leadership capabilities with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
- Outstanding stakeholder management and relationship-building skills across global and culturally diverse environments.
