About the Role
At Babcock, we're growing our Commercial capability and are seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Manager to play a pivotal leadership role within our Strategic Communications portfolio. This is an opportunity to influence critical business outcomes, lead a high-performing team, and partner with senior leaders to deliver commercially successful programs across a complex and dynamic environment.
You will provide strategic commercial direction, ensuring effective management of commercial risk, governance, customer contracts, and business growth initiatives. Acting as a trusted advisor, you will work closely with delivery units and functional leaders to shape commercial strategy, support major bids and pursuits, strengthen customer relationships, and drive sustainable growth while protecting Babcock's commercial interests.
This role offers leadership across the entire commercial lifecycle, from opportunity identification and capture through to contract execution and delivery. You'll have oversight of significant customer contracts, lead complex negotiations, drive commercial governance and risk management activities, and ensure best-practice commercial outcomes are embedded throughout the business.

To be successful, you will bring:
- Australian Citizen with a Defence security clearance (or the ability to obtain one).
- Tertiary degree qualifications in Business, Commence, Law, Finance or equivalent working experience.
- Extensive experience in commercial, contracts, or related leadership roles within complex Defence, Government, engineering, infrastructure, or project-based environments.
- Significant experience leading commercial teams and developing commercial capability.
- Extensive experience in contract negotiation, contract management, and customer relationship management.
- Experience leading commercial aspects of major bids, opportunities, and strategic pursuits.
- Experience operating within structured governance frameworks and Delegations of Authority.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and support strategic business decision making.
