Job Description:
L3Harris is actively seeking a Project Engineering (PE) Lead to support our Project Engineering organization in Waco, TX. The Project Engineer (PE) holds technical responsibility and authority for the program under the direction of the Program Manager (PM), Engineering Leadership and the Chief Engineer (CE). This includes but is not limited to:
- Planning and execution of program activities.
- Documenting approval of program plans.
- Ensuring life cycle process adherence.
- Risk identification and management.
- Overall program coordination during the program lifecycle.
To this end the individual Engineering Functional Task Leaders (Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Specialty Engineering, Logistic Engineering, Technical Publications, etc.) report to/and take direction from the SE/PE for the assigned program operations.
Essential Functions:
- Program Planning, Guidance, and Execution – Work with program management to develop the program execution schedule, effectively communicate with the entire program team, and guide the team through the execution of all required tasking to complete the contract
- Customer and Senior Leadership Interaction and Communication – Effectively communicate with external customers and internal senior leadership on the design and implementation of the contractually required capabilities and manage expectations
- Lead Program Integrated Product Teams of cross-disciplined engineers with internal and external members
- Mentor less experienced engineers in the area of Project Engineering and Integration
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Ability to travel – Up to 25%

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience.
- OR Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
- In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of experience in this environment.
- Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
Preferred Additional Skills:
As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for various engineering disciplines. Experience with as many of the following engineering disciplines is desired:
- Project Engineering
- Systems Engineering
- Software/ Hardware Engineering
- Aeronautical Engineering (Electrical, Structural, Mechanical, Stress, Mass Properties, Aerodynamics, etc.)
- EMI/EMC Engineering
- Test Engineering
- Mission Systems
It is also desired that the Candidate have the following:
- Aircraft and System Integration Experience
- Solid communication skills
- Experience with FAA (STC) and Military (MTC) certification activities.
- L3H Proposal Experience – Experience with L3H processes
- Entire Program/Engineering Life Cycle Phases and Activities
- Aircraft Modification and Modernization
- Experience with Microsoft Project and Developing Engineering Schedules
- FAA and Military Certification Experience
- Architecting mission system configurations to meet customer needs
- Ground, aircraft, space or shipborne mission system integration expertise
- ISR products and Platforms
