About the role
As the Configuration Management SME, you’ll provide specialist technical expertise across the JP9101 Program, supporting Configuration Management activities throughout the lifecycle of program products and services.
Working across Acquisition, DHFCS Sustainment and Legacy software contracts, you’ll design, develop and implement integrated Configuration Management systems, plans and processes, ensuring configuration baselines, technical artefacts and datasets are controlled, maintained and aligned with business, customer and regulatory requirements.
You’ll monitor and report on CM performance, lead complex technical investigations and analysis, and provide specialist advice to support effective problem resolution and informed technical decision-making.
Working closely with Engineering Discipline Leads and capability managers, you’ll contribute to the development of CM people capability, learning and development programs, career pathways, frameworks, processes and systems.
Alongside your JP9101 responsibilities, you’ll help shape and strengthen Configuration Management capability across Babcock Australasia.
About you
You’ll bring significant experience in Configuration Management within a complex engineering, defence, technology or similarly regulated environment, with the technical depth and judgement to operate as a recognised SME.
Strong knowledge of configuration identification, control, status accounting, audits, technical data management and CM systems is essential, together with the ability to interpret and apply relevant standards, procedures and compliance requirements.
You’ll be comfortable leading technical investigations, assessing risk, making specialist engineering decisions and presenting technical information to customers and senior stakeholders.
A collaborative and forward-thinking approach will be key, with the ability to influence technical teams, share knowledge and build capability across a broader organisation.
Above all, you’ll bring a strong focus on quality, safety, integrity and delivering sustainable technical solutions that support Babcock’s customers and long-term engineering capability.
To be successful in this position you will bring:
- Approximately 12 years of experience in relatable technical/engineering roles.
- Previous experience in managing applicable engineering function and/or technical delivery.
- A good understanding of applicable engineering toolsets (e.g. PLM or MRP systems, design, simulation and analysis software).
- Proficient with CM software products encompassing processes, tools and management environments.
- Previous experience within Defence or Defence Industry Defence is advantageous / highly regarded.
- Previous experience in the development and delivery of engineering learning programs. (Programs with a CM focus is advantageous / highly regarded.)
- Hold a technical vocational qualification/certificate in Configuration Management or related discipline.
