At easyJet, we are transforming Airline Operations through modern product-led technology, operational excellence, automation, data, and AI-enabled capabilities. The Airline Operations Platform is the single point of contact for the applications and data keeping our network flying—owning critical crew, flight planning, network control, and engineering systems (including AIMS, TOPS, LIDO, and AMOS).
We are looking for a Platform Lead – Demand & Capability to join our leadership team. In this pivotal role, you will be accountable for end-to-end workload and demand management across this critical operations estate. You will protect engineering capacity, build deep application expertise that eliminates single points of failure, and lead the rigid impact assessments that make change safe to land.
What You'll Do
As a core member of our leadership team, you will move our function from firefighting to proactive prevention. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Demand Authority: Enforce front-door discipline by owning the single demand register. You will run the end-to-end demand rhythm (triage, sizing, and prioritization boards) so that incoming requests are visible and sequenced rather than ad-hoc.
- Capacity Protection: Defend agreed capacity models—ensuring dedicated space is fiercely protected for automation, monitoring, and problem elimination.
- SME Knowledge & Capability: Own the depth, currency, and availability of SME application knowledge across the estate. You will actively track and eliminate single points of failure through intentional cross-skilling and documentation.
- Impact Assessment: Lead end-to-end impact assessments across interconnected applications and value chains (schedule, crew, flight planning, maintenance) so operational consequences are fully understood before any change is committed.
- Team Leadership: Line manage, coach, and develop a high-performing squad consisting of two Delivery Managers and five Technical Specialists, while steering the team from directive management to empowered ownership.
- Platform-as-a-Product: Champion Product and Platform ways of working, treating our internal missions as customers with published interfaces and a clear route in.
Who You Are
You are a calm, credible leader who thrives in high-consequence, 24x7 operational environments. You excel at making workload visible—even when the picture is uncomfortable—and you are straight about what can and cannot be done.
Key Skills Required:
- Demand & Capacity Mastery: Extensive experience managing intake, triage, prioritisation, and capacity allocation under pressure in complex tech environments.
- People Leadership: Proven track record of line managing delivery managers and deep technical specialists, as well as influencing across matrix and dotted-line relationships.
- Change Governance: Strong background in impact assessment across interdependent, business-critical systems with the authority to say when a change is not safe to land.
- Modern Ways of Working: Deep understanding of Agile, Lean, backlog management, sprint-based commitment models, and platform-as-a-product thinking.
- Root-Cause Discipline: A strong bias toward permanent fixes and preventing repeated short-term restoration.
- Tech Tooling: Proficiency with Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, and ITSM tooling.
Desirable Attributes:
- Experience in aviation, airline operations, airport logistics, or transport environments.
- Knowledge of core systems of record (e.g., AIMS, AMOS) and modern integration patterns (APIs, event-driven architecture).
- A grounding in Service Management (ITIL), particularly around problem management and service transition.
- Experience managing contractor-to-permanent transitions and formalising informal support models.
What We Offer
- The opportunity to drive a massive tech transformation at one of Europe’s leading low-cost airlines.
- A hybrid, collaborative work environment based out of our Luton office.
- A culture focused on innovation, data-driven decisions, and people development.
