This position is for a Maintenance Technician for the GTFSD Glendale Facility, an FAA repair station for fuel nozzles used in commercial and military aerospace and industrial applications.
Responsibilities
- Responsibilities may include some or all of the following:
- Working from manufacturer's specifications and engineering data, or from data developed in conjunction with manufacturing personnel, setup and prepare N/C machine tools for operation making necessary, calibrations, adjustments and modifications.
- Make test runs to insure machine is in proper working order. Analyze, locate and repair malfunctions in complex solid state analog and digital control systems.
- Maintain standard power-fed machine tools such as mills, lathes, shapers, planners, and jig bores by installing, repairing, troubleshooting and modifying them as required in order to achieve desired functions.
- Devise, design, fabricate and construct specialized machine tools as may be required in the production process working from design data, sketches and verbal instructions.
- Perform major repairs on all types of machine shop equipment including repairs which require extremely accurate alignment and complex assembly.
- Relocate production machinery and parts, install air and water lines from main line to the machine, align and adjust machines for production operation.
- Assist with the design; construct, install, maintain, repair and overhaul test stands, fixtures and related hydraulic equipment.
- Setup and operate arc and acetylene welding equipment.
- Check and calibrate new or rebuilt equipment after installation.
- Engage in shop surveys to locate, diagnose and repair electrical malfunctions and deficiencies.
- Install and maintain complete electrical wiring, equipment and related devices such as transformer banks, primary and branch circuit feeders, welding generators, relays, switchboards, power panels and equipment in electrically powered mobile units.
- Recommend proper route for conduit lines, time to complete job, and list of materials needed to complete job.
- Use precision test equipment.
- Plan the sequence of operations and methods to be used in complex repair and overhaul operations. Coordinate and schedule work orders. Determine and coordinate manpower required for timely completion.
- May work with computers and computer software to create and operate programs, reports, and spreadsheets.
- As a specialized hazardous material technician, may: Coordinate purchase, inventory delivery and pickup of hazardous material and maintain current inventory of on-site chemicals.
- Advise and assist in clean-up of chemical spills.
- Coordinate packaging, labeling, storing, and scheduling pickup of hazardous waste for offsite disposal.
- Maintain accurate records of all hazardous waste shipped offsite.
- Initiate compliance inspections

Qualifications
Qualifications
- Seven years related maintenance experience or demonstrated ability to perform described responsibilities.
- May require proficiency with pump and valve overhaul procedures, especially aerospace associated equipment.
- Proficient in working from schematics, blueprints, engineering drawings, sketches and machine tool testing procedures.
- Possess required tools.
- May require ability to setup and operate hand and power tools.
- May require working knowledge of national, state and local electrical codes.
- May require thorough knowledge of electronic theory as applied to N/C and standard machines, mechanical principles, machine shop mathematics (including trigonometry) and machining properties of metals.
- May require thorough knowledge of general hydraulics technology, i.e. pumps, cylinders, accumulators, filters, & piping; tub bending, piping fabrication for hydraulic and pneumatic applications.
- May require knowledge of chemicals and their characteristics.
- May require working knowledge of computer and computer software to operate programs, create reports, and maintain spreadsheets.
- Required to lift up to 50 pounds.
- May require forklift operator certification.
- Must demonstrate effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work with others and be a participative team player.
