Controls Units Design Engineer

The Controls Units Design Engineer will develop control system hardware requirements, then guide Rolls-Royce approved suppliers through the detailed design process to ensure that delivered hardware meets all technical and program requirements. The role will span the project lifecycle from requirements definition, concept development, detail component design, validation, and verification testing through final production release.

Key Accountabilities:
- Responsible for the development of Controls Hardware components, including oversight of the mechanical design and analysis of components, taking the design through multiple gated design reviews, and oversight of the validation testing performed by contracted suppliers of the Controls Units.
- Drive coordination of effort between the design, purchasing, manufacturing engineering teams with our Controls Hardware suppliers to ensure that program needs are met through the execution of the work package to plan.
- Engage in technical, manufacturing and supply chain issues and opportunities to enable quick decision making.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, or Systems Engineering required at a minimum.
- Graduating between August 2024 and August 2025.
- Minimum GPA: 3.0
- To be considered for this role, you must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a high-level security clearance.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with systems engineering disciplines: the ability to understand complex system boundaries, interactions, and interdependencies across multiple system levels and layers throughout the system’s entire lifecycle.
- Desire to successfully lead in a team environment, establishing collaborative relationships with coworkers
- Knowledge of RTCA/DO-160 and MIL-STD-810 environmental testing standards
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (i.e., verbal, written, and presentation) for both expert and non-expert audiences.

Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement.
