We are seeking an Electrical Engineer Intern to support the Test Equipment Engineering team for aerospace products and systems. The role involves developing electrical requirements, systems level electrical specification and review, electrical circuit design and layout for complex automated test equipment.
Our standard test equipment hardware solutions are National Instruments PXI, cRIO, and labVIEW based. Strong electrical troubleshooting skills are critical to the role. The Electrical Engineer will help ensure that new and existing automated test sets meet the product testing and test coverage requirements. This role is onsite, in Vergennes, Vermont.
What
You Will Do:
- You will assist with design, analyze, and troubleshoot circuits, test systems, and PCB products.
- You will help to develop and maintain test documentation, plans, procedures, and reports and write test requirements and detailed design documents.
- You will work with vendors to develop complex automated Test Equipment
- You will assist with troubleshooting complex issues that may be software, hardware, system, or product related to determine root cause and corrective action.
- You will interface with Customers, External Suppliers, Program Managers, Engineering Managers, Mechanical, Software, Electrical, and Systems Engineers, as well as the Manufacturing organization.
- You will help manage of various projects with small teams of test engineers and outsourced test equipment hardware build.

You Will Learn:
- You will learn circuit design, layout, bench testing, and integration procedures for a variety of aerospace hardware interfaces in a hands-on lab environment.
- You will learn testing methodologies and troubleshooting procedures to resolve difficult failures impacting complex integrated test systems.
- You will receive broad exposure to a wide range of product lines and various segments of the business while also receiving mentorship from experienced electrical test equipment engineers.
- You will learn LabVIEW training in order to assist with troubleshooting hardware problems.
Qualifications
You Must Have:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
- U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined here: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience with Matlab, Simulink, Mentor Graphics (Dxdesigner/Expedition) and PXI based National Instruments hardware, cRIO, FPGA, and data acquisition systems.
- Strong background in electrical troubleshooting and familiarity with standard avionics busses including 1553, ARINC, CAN, RS485, RS232, and 1394.
- National Instruments Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) or Certified LabVIEW Embedded Developer (CLED) or other software coding experience.
- Able to function at a high level with multiple tasks and projects, and to effectively change direction based upon business needs.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
