The role
As an IT Lead, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be accountable for the leadership and management of all IT provisions; service, change and stakeholder relationship management. This is an exciting role in which your input provides tangible outputs into a critical defence training programme lead by our customer Ascent Flight Training Services.
Day-to-day, you’ll act as the senior point of contact for all IT related aspects of UKMFTS contract delivery, driving communications within the user community to help them take full advantage of the service that we provide, as well as:
- Develop the service management with new ways of working with suppliers and the UKMFTS team to enhance the service for our customer.
- Provide oversight, governance, prioritisation, and direction of the UKMFTS change programme. Managing the IT portfolio at all levels, driving synergies between the BCS PMO and service delivery roles. Managing the IT portfolio and DOA approvals.
- Lead the UKMFTS IT quality agenda to ensure continual improvement, repeatable processes, and team development.
- Introduce new reporting functions to stakeholders providing efficient access to data to enable clear decision making and understanding of position.
- Provide commercial guidance ensuring that all aspects of the IT delivery comply with commercial and governance requirements.
This role is full time and is a hybrid role based at various Babcock sites. Your working from home and working onsite options will be discussed during your interview.
Essential experience of the IT Lead:
- Experience leading, designing, and executing IT activities in global, complex organisations.
- Commercial awareness and experience of the challenges of creating a successful CIS solution against a backdrop of misaligned obligations and supplier provision.
- A track record of successfully implementing new polices, processes and strategies, from conception through to design and implementation.
- Defence Experience
Qualifications for the IT Lead:
- Degree in management or technology project management type qualification
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC security clearance for this role.
