Role Summary
The Training Content Developer is responsible for developing training needs at Alaska Airlines (AS) and Horizon Air (QX). As an individual contributor, this role focuses on creating Instructor led lesson plans and eLearning modules for blended learning experiences.
Scope & Complexity
- This individual contributor role supports training content development for Alaska Airlines (AS) and Horizon Air (QX).
Key Duties
Develop training solutions for multiple front-line workgroups.
Take on ambiguous challenges to implement learning objectives that train to competencies and critical behaviors.
Interpret needs analyses to understand user goals and objectives and identify appropriate content deliverables for assigned projects.
Apply industry methodologies to write and revise content deliverables (e.g., online course materials, job aides, classroom materials) per approved content plans, ensuring content deliverables adhere to established standards.
Make recommendations on design specifications, storyboards, and simulations.
Facilitate informal and formal reviews with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and other applicable team members.
Regularly report on project status and recognize potential problems and promptly report issues to manager.
Resolve requests for content updates based on identified defects, product enhancements, root cause analysis findings, etc. to help ensure delivery of high quality products to our customers.
Take initiative to research new technologies to assist in the continued improvement of content development processes and standards, recommending changes required to match or surpass e-learning industry standards.
Utilize the learning management system (LMS) to upload, test, create and edit course trees, archive courses as needed, and communicate with LMS administrator to ensure adherence to best practices.
With limited direction from Instructional Designer or Supervisor, work independently to manage moderately complex projects, including timelines, development of content, scripts, stakeholders, video recording, and audio.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
2 years of experience with adult learning principles and e-learning development.
A Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree, with a focus in learning, curriculum design, education, communications, or a related discipline, or an additional two years of training/experience in lieu of this degree.
Experience with one or more eLearning authoring tools such as: Articulate Storyline 360 or Adobe Captivate.
Experience with image/graphic creation and manipulation.
Thorough understanding of learning modalities and adult learning styles.
Possess excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Possess strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to maintain and adhere to project and individual schedules with minimal supervision.
Ability to quickly analyze the impact of development changes on a content development project and adjust workload appropriately.
Ability to act as a consultant regarding Content Development methodology, standards and practices.
Ability to create compelling visual designs for training that is functional and engaging.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
Knowledge of current training presentation products and emerging technologies for mobile applications.
Experience working with Articulate Rise 360.
Experience in creating simulations, gamification design, and recording screencasts.
Strong working knowledge of Photoshop and web design.
Spanish fluency.

Salary Range
$64,950 --- $97,450 / year
Salary Details
Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
