On this position, you will join the Thales Next Gen IS/IT strategic development. Next Gen IS/IT is a core part of the Thales Group digital transformation, it aims at supporting Thales competitiveness by strengthening the relationship between businesses and functions. In this context, we are looking for dynamic profiles for the role of Product & Service Owner: Product & Service Owners own a critical role by having the overall responsibility for developing, running, maintaining and continuously improve the Products/Services under their supervision.

PROFILE:
- You graduated with a bachelor or master’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science or in University, and you have significant experience in your field of expertise.
- You have experience in project management (ideally as a Product or Service Owner).
- You have a great understanding of your stakeholders and final users’ needs.
- You have a vision for products/services and being able to communicate these effectively. You are an effective communicator, a storyteller.
- You are open-minded, experienced or ready to adopt to new ways of working (agile).
- You are strong in team orientation - someone who can enable others, install a unified and collaborative atmosphere for a diverse team.
- You can support the Squad in monitoring their performance and continuously improving their way of working.
- You act as a life force, inspiring and motivating the Squad members.
- You act as a defense to your Squad, supporting the team members maintaining a valuable and protecting them from interruptions (vs. delivering value).
- You have a great sense of listening and you are user oriented.
- You are curious about the latest developments and tools in your area(s) of expertise, passionate about innovations.
- You have the ability to travel (International and Domestic).
MAIN DUTIES:
- You operate at scale and provide the connection between multidisciplinary business areas and stakeholders to provide a valuable Product.
- You are a backlog owner; you elaborate and monitor user stories.
- You develop and oversee a Product Catalog & its delivery model.
- You are managing the Product value through user-centric Product KPIs.
- You make sure the necessary business processes are followed and participate in the governance of the Product/Services, including acting as a point of escalation for the delivery teams/Squad(s).
- You own and control the Product budget. You allocate funding to areas having high-priorities and high-value impacts.
- You communicate on the benefits and performance of the delivered Product/Service.
- Ultimately, you are responsible for the successful operation and continuous improvement of the Product you are managing.

Technical skills
- You experienced Project management responsibilities relating to planning, scheduling, budgeting and reporting.
- You know Agile frameworks, Scrum, Kanban, Lean (mastery of Jira, Rally or Redmine type tool) and have a IS/IT Agile culture.
- You know how to develop a Service vision based on your understanding of your field and stakeholders’ needs (data modelling and object design principles like OOD and UML).
- You are proficient in English - negotiation level being necessary. French would be an asset.
Soft skills
- You are acting as a "Servant Leader" - and a coach - empowering and supporting your team members for them to achieve successes/qualitative deliveries and to always develop the value of their developments.
- You are recognized as a team player and enjoy collaborative work.
- You are able to coordinate and prioritize resources across various entities (e.g. CBU, Countries, Regions…).

LIFE AS PRODUCT & SERVICE OWNER
Product & Service Owners hold and drive forward the Product/Service vision; they are accountable for the Squad performance, results and ultimately for the value and quality of their Product/Service.
As a Product & Service Owner within Thales, you will work on two main axis:
DEFINE AND OWN THE PRODUCT/SERVICE VISION:
- Engaging with their stakeholders/end-users and understanding their needs.
- Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of field and keep proximity to stakeholders’ needs.
- Communicating the vision of the product and defining Squad's goals.
- Facilitating internal and external stakeholders demo’s with the team members, for direct feedback.
ENSURE SQUAD SUCCESS:
- Writing and reviewing User Stories, including Acceptance Criteria.
- Accepting and rejecting User Stories using the Definition of Done and Acceptance Criteria.
- Prioritizing product backlog items and maintaining an updated backlog for the Squad.
- Co-carry out market research and collect necessary data through studies, surveys, alpha/beta program and on-board metrics to objectively analyze and identify user needs.
- Remaining available for the Squad throughout the sprint.
- Interfacing with Group Functions and key stakeholders.

They are brining insights and expertise in how user needs have changed over time to ensure these are met by the business. Product & Service Owners apply strategic thinking for the provision of the best Product/Service for the end user.

Product & Service Owners act as Servant/Host leaders by coaching and helping the teams in using Agile and Lean practices. Product & Service Owners are determining the right approach for the team to take and continuously revaluating this through the life of a project. They are able to think of new and innovative ways of working to achieve the right outcomes. Product & Service Owners are continuously reflecting and challenging the team for achieving the best outcome and value.
Owning the Operational management
Product & Service Owners work on making operations efficient. They are the escalation point for major operational issues and champions operational management across their Squads and community.

Product & Service Owners are able to anticipate problems and know how to defend against them at the right time. They understand how problems fit into the larger picture and are able to help others in articulating around them and in managing them. Ultimately, Product & Service Owners build problem-solving capabilities in others.

Product & Service Owners are able to develop business cases, owning and iterating it throughout the Product/Service lifecycle. They understand the granularity of financial costs per sprint and the value delivered. Product & Service Owners are also able to develop benefits with others for the benefits of the overall portfolio.

Product & Service Owners work hand-in-hand with their peers and with the Tribe Leader in order to master the Product lifecycle. They are able to recognize when it is right to move forward and when it is right to stop.
