Johnson Service Group is looking for a Lab Assistant/Facilities Safety Assistant for one of our Clients in South San Francisco. This person would assist the multiple labs with glass washing and autoclaving and assist Facilities with safety checks.
Essential Job FunctionsLab Duties
- Use chemical inventory system to track, label and record supplies
- Provide glass wash & autoclave service
- Monitor and order general lab supplies
- Maintain general lab cleanliness
- Ship samples to China and locally
- Maintain lab coat supplies
- Maintain and monitor solid, liquid and sharp hazardous materials
- Check fire extinguisher and Fire falls once a month
- Monthly test shower and eyewash stations
- In addition, provide glass and autoclave support to sub-tenants
Facilities Duties
- Coordinate procurement and stocking of office and kitchen supplies
- Replace cartridges, toners and paper supply for printers and copiers
- Clean the kitchen and break room areas daily
- Assist with office reconfiguration and seating relocation
- Monitor, order and stock pantry, office and copy room supplies
- Support shipping and receiving of sensitive mail and packages
- Sort and distribute mail and packages to employees
- Other duties which, from time to time, may be required
Skills/Qualifications:
- Experience using glassware washer and autoclave
- Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to interact well with a diverse set of researchers
- Ability to display initiative and multi-task to perform a wide range of laboratory and facilities duties and to readily adapt to priority changes
- Able to lift 45 pounds, kneel, walk, and stand
- Good working knowledge of basic lab and chemical inventory procedures and chemical safety practices
- Ability to use standard computers and basic office software
Rate starting at $25.00/hr DOE
