About us
The unit “Alignment, Fluids & FGSE operation” part of the Turin AIT center is responsible for the integration and testing at subsystem and system level with full functional validation of flight fluidic systems as well as for the correct alignment adjustment / characterization of the flight h/w requiring specified orientation / position knowledge.
In addition the department unit is also responsible for the design and procurement of all fluidic and alignment equipment needed for the above mentioned activities.
For this department unit we are looking for a:
“Senior Fluidic Test Engineer for scientific spacecraft and orbital space infrastructures”
About the job
In this job you will be organizing and conducting the activities in order to identify all the Fluidic Ground Support Equipment needed on a specific project, define the relevant functional and design requirements and provide the required technical follow-on during the procurement and acceptance phase.
Furthermore you will be in charge of testing and validation of the spacecraft fluidic systems both at component, subsystem and system level.
Specific tasks are:
- Define the FGSE procurement technical requirements and issue of relevant specifications.
- Prepare FGSE requirements traceability matrixes and define the relevant verification matrixes (use of DOORS could be mandatory)
- Define the preliminary FGSE design and relevant sketches in order to address the subco towards expected or proposed design solution
- Support the purchasing department in order to prepare and collect the MGSE request of quotation
- Review all the FGSE offers and provide technical evaluation for the best suppliers selection
- Review all the FGSE documentation provided by the suppliers after the kick-off in particular for the main events as PDR, CDR, TRR, PTR and DRB
- Provide continuous technical support during all the procurement phase
- Perform co-engineering activities with other departments in order to evaluate and negotiate the test requirements and contribute to their finalization in order to ensure the availability of proper test execution means
- Study and develop test set-up and prepare assembly and test documentation (assembly and test procedures, test report, etc)
- Execute / contribute / supervise all fluidic assembly and test campaign for the spacecraft (e.g. set-up preparation, leakage test, proof pressure test, flow measurement test, functional thermal performance test, gas loading, etc). For leakage testing is required a specific certification of 2nd level inspector as per ISO 9712:2012 and ASNT (American Society of Non-destructive Testing) or NAS410/EN4179 (European Aerospace Standard)
- Support and conduct all interoperability test campaign with external entities (e.g. NASA, Airbus, ESA,ORBITAL).
- Support AIT manager in the definition of the AIT schedule
The working site is Torino, but Your support can be required during the external test campaign phases.
Working on shift 24h/7d across the full week may be required on the basis of program AIT schedule.
About You
Education and experience
- Bachelor or Master degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
- Proficient in English language (C1 or above)
- Basic knowledge of French language could be an advantage.
- Valid PCN (Personnel Certification in Non Destructive Testing) Level 2 in leakage testing techniques in compliance with ISO 9712:2012O and ASNT (American Society of Non-destructive Testing) or NAS410/EN4179 (European Aerospace Standard)
- Previous experience of at least 5 (five) years on fluidic assembly, testing and FGSE definition experience on aerospace systems (Satellites and Space Modules) is required.
- Proven experience in launch site fluidic integration and testing.
Skills and knowledge
Deep and practical knowledge of helium mass spectrometer operation.
Demonstrable knowledge of:
- Leakage testing Measurement theory, application and performance evaluation.
- Design, procurement and operation of dedicated FGSE (Fluidic on Ground Support Equipment)
- Operative certification as Oxygen loading certified personnel.
Basic knowledge of following computer application:
- Window based applicable SW: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project etc.)
- 3d CAD model managing (SolidWorks) knowledge in an advantage
- DOORS knowledge is an advantage
