Job description:
The Engineering Environmental Sustainability (EES) Team in the Engineering and Development drives and pursues key strategic thrusts in Changi Airport’s environmental sustainability roadmap – (i) carbon emission management, (ii) water management, (iii) waste management and (iv) climate resilience. The team liaises closely with the corporate sustainability policy unit and various clusters within Changi Airport Group to formulate, strategise and implement sustainability projects to build a more Sustainable Changi.
As part of the Engineering Environmental Sustainability team, your key responsibilities are:
- Energy Management System: Responsible for the operation & maintenance, including enhancement of its capability, functionality and cybersecurity, of the Energy Management System (EMS) that tracks and reports airport-wide energy use. Also, interface with Changi East project team to ensure requirements relating to the EMS and experiences learnt from the existing airport are incorporated into the new EMS design at Terminal 5 and Changi East development.
- Environmental law compliance: Stay updated on national and international environmental regulations. Liaise with the corporate sustainability policy unit to track and report compliance with environmental laws by the Engineering and Development cluster. This includes developing guidelines and standard procurement requirements for adoption by the cluster.
- Emerging focus areas: Liaise with corporate sustainability policy unit to formulate, strategise and subsequently implement new environmental policies within the Engineering and Development cluster in emerging focus areas such as waste management and circular economy and Scope 3 emission management. Works include seeking feedback from various teams in the cluster, proposing refinements in policy, developing guidance and promoting awareness amongst stakeholders.
- Sustainability Innovations: Support the team in sustainability innovation initiatives namely, (i) deployment of solar PV systems in various areas in the airfield such as floating solar PV in water bodies and solar canopy across drains and canals, and (ii) smart micro-grid with energy storage systems and artificial intelligence (AI) automation controls. Works include scanning technologies/solutions in the market, collaborating with solution providers, carrying out feasibility / business-case assessment, analysing, and drawing conclusions from trial data.
Requirements:
- Good Degree in Engineering, preferably in the electrical or environmental sustainability field.
- Minimally 3 years of working experience in the environmental sustainability field.
- Strong interest in environmental sustainability and decarbonisation topics with keenness on continuous learning.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
- Good writing, storyboarding and presentation abilities
- Effective communication and capacity to engage and interact effectively with stakeholders within and outside the organisation
- Strong planning, organizational and prioritization skills, able to manage/execute multiple projects concurrently with minimum supervision; prior relevant experience in both private and public sector stakeholder engagement will be advantageous
- Possess a self-motivated and positive attitude, excellent work ethic and is a team player
