The P-8A Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Services team are looking for the next generation of
Aerospace Workersto start their career in aviation. As our newest Aircraft Technicians,you will be responsible for gaining skills and experience in maintenance and modification of the various aircraft systems and associated equipment, in support of attainment of a Certificate II Aeroskills. This traineeship will include a fully funded position at a local Maintenance Training Organisation (MTO) whilst you complete your training. Following completion, you will be responsible for maintaining Aircraft systems, servicing requirements and modifications in support of the P-8A Poseidon Aircraft at RAAF Base Edinburgh.
With multiple (>10) positions available and due to aviation training courses commencing in June 2025, a lengthy recruiting drive is required with employment start dates expected to align to the training plan (Q2 2025).
Your Day:
No two days are the same, but here is an example of what activities you can expect to undertake during your traineeship:
Aircraft base and deeper level maintenance duties inclusive of minor and major aircraft modifications
- Removal and installation of aircraft components
- Disassembly and reassembly of aircraft components
- Preparation and use of aircraft support equipment
- Inspection, maintenance, servicing, repair and fault diagnosis of components and systems.
- Aircraft flight-line handling duties
In addition to the above, in order to successfully complete your traineeship, you will also be required to:
- Attend training at the MTO
- Pass all examinations and competencies in order to achieve aircraft task authorisation
- Maintain a detailed journal of experience to a standard acceptable to BDA and the Registered Training Organisation
Your checklist for success:
- Enthusiasm and passion to learn aircraft maintenance activities from experienced Aircraft Maintenance Engineers who will mentor and guide you from day one to completion of your Aeroskills Cert II
- Aptitude with a willingness to learn
- Ability to successfully interact with mentors, co-workers and management to maintain productive working relationships to meet team, business unit, and organisational goals
- Have the self-discipline to maintain a current work journal
- Able to speak, read and write fluent English
The nice to haves:
- Previous trade background including ability to work with hands and read/interpret maintenance documentation
- Competence with Microsoft office suite.
- Knowledge of aircraft operational procedures.
