Manager – Development & Performance, YYC (7 Month Term)
Description:
Reporting to the Director, Guest Services, the Development and Performance Manager is responsible for the delivery of all performance and support aspects for the frontline team. This includes, but is not limited to rewards and recognition, performance management, ability management, career development, employee relations, and health and wellness programs.
Key Deliverables Include:
- Responsible for end-to-end performance management for a team of >150 direct employees. This includes coaching conversations, scheduling investigative meetings, administering progressive discipline, and terminations when required.
- Investigate and respond to internal and external feedback regarding frontline performance.
- Responsible for key deliverables such as management of probationary review process, absence management program and upholding expectations for all company policies and processes.
- Responsible for administration of rewards, recognition and engagement. This would include but not limited to: Birthdays, Retirement, Long Service Awards, Attendance, safety recognition and life events.
- Inform and act as a knowledgeable source for interpretation of WestJet people related procedures, policies and best practices.
- Attend recruiting events, conduct interviews in conjunction with Airport Leadership Teams and Talent partners.
- Assist with Occupational Health and Safety - attend and participate in safety meetings on behalf of team and support with policy/procedure implementation to ensure safe working environment for frontline employees and injury/cost reduction.
- Facilitate one on ones with all frontline team members.
- Provide Career Development guidance to frontline team members.
- Initial point of contact for all on site injuries, which includes WCB paperwork, IHR’s and ensure that employees receive appropriate medical attention.
- Work in conjunction with Disability Management teams to facilitate WCB claims, STD/LTD, LOA requests, medical leaves and RTW programs in consultation with Sr. Leadership.
- Develop Modified Work Agreements in conjunction with the Disability Management Team.
- Ensuring management processes are in line with the WestJet culture and departmental objectives.

Experience & Qualifications:
- 2 or more years leadership experience including performance management and ability management required.
- Human Resources degree, diploma or certificate or equivalent years of experience in a people leadership role.
- Knowledge of WestJet People policies, guidelines and practices required.
- Experience in aspects of ground operation leadership is a strong asset.
- 3 - 5 years’ experience in airline operations an asset.
- Proven ability to plan, develop and lead meetings.
- Proven ability to provide high level of customer service to internal guests.
- Intermediate knowledge of all Microsoft applications.
- Able to deal with stressful situations and perform steadily under pressure.
- Positive role model, outwardly demonstrates WestJet values.
- Must be prepared to cover a 7 day a week operation.
