In this position you will join the Thales Netherlands IS/IT team. IS/IT is at the core of the Thales digital transformation, there is a close relationship between IS/IT and business.
With a team of 150+ colleagues we provide IS/IT support to our 2500 NL colleagues in several Business Lines and functions. The IS/IT department of Thales Netherlands works closely together with the international IS/IT departments of the Thales group.
About the team
IT Engineering Support (IT EngSup) is part of the IT department within Thales Netherlands called IS/IT. This department is responsible for all business supporting IS/IT. The IS/IT department consists of about 10, mostly product-related, Agile/DevOps squads. IT Engineering Support consists of 24 enthusiastic IT Engineers and Consultants divided into 3 squads who work closely together and use Agile methodologies. The squads include system, software and IT architects, application and infrastructure specialists. They gather the requirements, validate them against security procedures and design solutions, and implement them with both the end user and other IS/IT squads. We are a young and dynamic group, are self-managing, manage our own products/projects and are involved in the latest IT developments within the Thales group. As a Linux Dev/Ops Engineer you will be a part of the Linux squad and work closely with other colleagues within and outside the squad.
About the job
The day starts with a stand-up in which the squad looks at what they did yesterday, what they will do today, and whether there are any obstacles. After the stand-up, you will start rolling out and/or improving the tooling. You provide support to Engineers and are a source of information for your colleagues. You are also continuously working to improve cooperation within your own and between other squads. Using the Agile principles, you work with the squad on the stability and security of Linux servers and (virtual) workstations.
About you
We are looking for a colleague who:
- has a (technical) bachelor or master degree, preferable in IT
- has relevant working experience especially in an Agile environment;
- has experience within a complex enterprise IT environment;
- has strong communication skills;
- has experience with agile working and is open-minded in adopting new ways of working;
- has a strong will to continue to develop him or herself, both on a personal and technical level;
- Is fluent in English;
- Is a team player;
- has experience with tools and operating systems such as Ansible, Puppet, Red Hat Satellite, GIT, container technologies, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, 8 and 9;
- has affinity with Citrix on Linux, experience is an advantage;
- has good analytical and conceptual skills;
- has experience with automation and can help the team to take the next step;
- has proven experience in implementing and transitioning teams and workloads to modern automation standards, preferably Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform;
- has experience in setting up and maintaining ansible code base development via CI/CD;
- preferably has experience with Jenkins/Bitbucket or Gitlab;
- can and wants to be in the office for at least 2 working days per week.
