Position Summary:
This role is responsible for ensuring our products are designed and manufactured to be cost-effective, reliable, and ensure they meet customer quality standards. You will also support our overall strategy for success.
Supervision and Interaction:
- Has Direct Reports: This position involves supervising and mentoring Engineers and new employees.
Responsibilities
- Problem Solving: You will identify and implement new manufacturing processes and design configurations to solve production challenges. This includes analyzing how products are designed and made and working with suppliers.
- Creating Instructions: You will write clear instructions and visuals to help production staff understand manufacturing requirements.
- Equipment Management: You will evaluate and justify investments in new machinery and design concepts and oversee the implementation of new equipment or changes to existing ones.
- New Product Development: You will develop methods for producing new products and prototypes quickly and efficiently, making necessary adjustments to tools and materials.
- Process Improvement: You will analyze current manufacturing processes to find ways to increase productivity and reduce costs. Implementing new methods will be key to this effort.
- Workforce and Layout Planning: You will plan how to best use our workforce and space to ensure smooth and efficient operation.
- Continuous Improvement: You will apply lean manufacturing principles to enhance products and processes, leading special projects as needed.
- Customer Interaction: You will regularly update customers on program status and address any product issues.
- Quality Assurance: Using statistical techniques to identify and resolve issues, you will develop testing methods to ensure product and process quality.
- Supplier Management: You will manage supplier relationships and ensure compliance with quality standards, including writing procedures to maintain customer requirements
Qualifications
- A minimum of 7 years of experience directly supporting hose design and manufacturing.
- Demonstrated expertise in implementing improvements in reinforcement and hose cover production.
- Knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively at all levels of the organization and with suppliers.
- A bachelor’s degree in a related Engineering or Technology field, Masters preferred
