The
Safety Internship is an opportunity for someone who has an interest in fields of Occupational Health and Safety, Business administration or Aviation. Interns can apply their educational experience while gaining practical hands-on Safety experience. As a Safety intern, you will work on strategic projects, help to support Safety programs and learn from a team of Safety professionals.
Essential Job Functions
- The Safety Intern will be given the opportunity to gain business acumen, develop an understanding of Safety department operations, while enhancing their interpersonal and leadership skills. The program will build on the intern’s education, and will provide a balance of technical and business learning opportunities. The internship will provide opportunities in safety compliance and regulations, emergency preparedness, program/project management and other key business areas.
- The Safety Intern is responsible for a wide variety of duties, which may include the following.
- Provides back-up support to the Safety department by greeting and assisting team members face-to-face, on the phone, and via e-mail,
- Performs various data entry in the Intelex, Everbridge, E-NARSIS and other systems,
- Assists with safety equipment inspections and tracking of safety invoices,
- Inventories and maintains safety supplies (e.g. First response bag, hangar health check boards, aircraft edge protection materials),
- Creates slides and flyers featuring new safety products and programs,
- Performs a variety of clerical duties to support Safety events and training,
- Assists with monthly safety briefing, weekly safety communication materials and meeting minutes,
- May perform other duties assigned by management.
The Safety Intern will be directly linked to the business environment in which Duncan Aviation operates and competes, and will provide relevance within the Safety department.
- Action learning will be used - learning by doing, working on real work challenges and business issues. This action learning approach increases the probability of impacting growth, strategy, quality, innovation, efficiency and performance in a positive way.
- Follow-through and Measurement - The Safety Intern’s development will be tied into existing processes, including development plans, performance evaluations and career planning. This position will utilize skills and knowledge to impact and influence Duncan Aviation’s key issues and initiatives, while providing exceptional customer services to our internal and external customers.
Job Specific Requirements
- Licenses/Certificates: Driver’s License
- Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required
- Physical: Repetitive motion; tolerates standing, walking, bending and sitting; proficient typing and data entry skills. Occasionally lifts up to 50 lbs.
- Environmental: Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and noisy environments
Experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Project, etc.) required
- Preferred course of study in EHS, Management or related field
