Under close supervision, the
Install Intern performs installation, troubleshooting and repair of aircraft wiring and avionics systems using various hand tools and test equipment, to meet manufacturing specifications, Duncan approved procedures, FARs and industry standards in a safe, clean and organized work area.
Essential Job Functions
- Under close supervision, performs basic routing of wiring throughout aircraft and connecting wiring to accessories such as relays, circuit breakers, connectors and switches. Learns and performs preparation and pinning of new system terminations per manufacturer specifications, Duncan Aviation approved procedure, and FARs.
- Under close supervision, performs wire marking, bundling, and pre-pinning systems to be installed.
- Under close supervision, disassembles and reassembles aircraft interior, instrument panels and avionics equipment bays prior to and/or following the installation of wiring and/or repair of avionics systems, using proper handling and storage techniques. Properly document all removal and installation of aircraft parts and accessories according to Installation approved procedures.
- Under close supervision, performs basic wiring checks with assistance from higher level technicians to ensure functionality of wiring installations.
- With assistance from experienced technicians, performs, basic troubleshooting skills and reports problems to a senior technician.
- With assistance, documents completed work on the work order and maintenance of Technician Training Log.
- Maintains current industry, equipment and FAA knowledge by attending factory classes, OJT and by researching and reading technical documents, trade publications, FAR's, etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Job Specific Requirements
- Licenses/Certificates: Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required
- Physical: Routinely lifts 50 lbs.; reads small print; identifies color; works in confined spaces; works in heights above four feet; tolerates products and materials associated with component maintenance; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and sitting
- Environmental: Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and noisy environments
Education And Experience
- High School graduate or equivalent required
- Currently enrolled in an avionics and/or electronics secondary education program
