Boeing is seeking an
Entry Level Optical Engineer to join our team in
Albuquerque, NM supporting advanced concepts development We are seeking a candidate interested optical design, integration of optical systems, and field testing of systems. This position will work with extremely talented, high performing, multi-disciplined engineering teams to work on start-of-the-art adaptive optics and optical imaging systems offering unique opportunities to be mentored by some of the best in the industry. This position will work both at our
Albuquerque LEOS site and on
Kirtland AFB.
Position Responsibilities:
- Assists in developing architectures to integrate systems and components into higher level systems and platforms.
- Assists with trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict component, interconnects and system performance and to optimize design around established requirements.
- Assists in defining and conducting l tests of various kinds to validate performance of designs to requirements. These tests could include, but not limited to, optical metrology of individual components, testing optical breadboards to be integrated into larger systems, working with senior engineers to test full systems, etc.
- Works on crew to test and validate designs of complex systems. Occasional night work is required.
To meet security standards and protocols, all work is performed onsite in Albuquerque, NM/ Kirtland AFB
This position requires the ability to obtain U.S. Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A final U.S. Top Secret clearance post-hire is required
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
- Experience performing modeling and/or simulation of Electro-Optical and Infrared systems with a technical computing language, such as Matlab or Mathematica
- Experience with design, development, testing, and troubleshooting of advanced Electronic Systems, i.e. Electro-Optical Guidance Systems, Radar Tests and/or RF Seeker
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Active Secret Clearance
- Experience working with adaptive optics systems
- Experience designing and integrating optical systems
Typical Education & Experience:
Entry Level (Level 1):
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Associate (Level 2):
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range Entry Level (Level 1): $66,300 – $89,700
Summary pay range Associate(Level 2): $79,900 – $108,100
