Are you ready to launch your career in manufacturing engineering? We are hiring a Manufacturing Engineer Co-op in Rome, NY to join our Site Manufacturing Engineering Team. This role is rewarding and exciting, both active in the production environment and in the development of new and improved aerospace manufacturing processes.
You will be joining over 200 employees responsible for the entire product life cycle, all in one facility. Located in the Mohawk Valley of Upstate New York, Rome is in a growing technology hub with availability to various lifestyles within a 20-minute commute. The international airport in Syracuse, NY is 45 minutes away and we benefit from a relative low-cost of living in New York State.
The role requires significant direct interaction with products and operations and is therefore an onsite role at our facility in Rome, NY.
What You Will Do
- Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run January-August (including the Spring semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity).
- Collaborate with experienced team members to design manufacturing processes utilizing materials, specifications, tolerances, equipment, fixtures, tooling, and work instructions.
- Work with moderate supervision to Investigate and resolve manufacturing issues, utilizing root cause analysis and other problem-solving techniques to implement effective solutions within area of responsibility.
- Monitor established processes via data collection for statistical analysis and identifies and defines complex production problems.
- Use theoretical knowledge or professional experience to ensure manufacturing processes adhere to quality and customer standards.
- Collaborate with suppliers and external partners to select or improve materials, components, and manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with others to innovate, implementing best practices and incorporating feedback to drive ongoing advancements in aerospace manufacturing.

Qualifications You Must Have
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

- Understanding of highly-complex or tight-tolerance requirements.
- Experience in problem solving that achieve results and engage others.
- Skill in writing and communicating technical information to build consensus.
- Demonstrated curiosity and passion in STEAM, specifically science or engineering

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
