About the team you are joining
The role of the Senior Manager, Airline Cargo, IATA Consulting,
is to (i) develop IATA Consulting’s business in the airline cargo sector,
globally; (ii) manage and deliver the subsequent consulting engagements, (iii)
contribute to the life of the Consulting practice through thought leadership,
team mentoring, etc.
The position is based in Madrid, and reports to the Senior Principal, IATA
Consulting in charge of the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
IATA Consulting’s market offering relevant to the position includes, but is not
limited to:
- Market studies including demand-side drivers and trends, supply-side competitive landscape, regulatory changes, technological innovation, etc.
- Feasibility studies, go-to-market strategies, investment plan reviews, strategic partnerships, etc.;
- Freight-related transactions covering not only airlines, but also airport, cargo GHS providers, GSA, etc.
The successful candidate must have a proven track record
working for a management consultancy (e.g., MBB, Tier-2, Big Four,
international boutique firms) at or around Manager or Senior Manager level,
including having led business development and proposal development
efforts.
What your day would be like
The Senior Manager, Airline Cargo, IATA Consulting is expected
to:
Develop IATA Consulting’s business related to the airline cargo
sector:
- Leverage IATA’s brand equity and network to form executive client relationships and generate commercial opportunities for IATA Consulting.
- Monitor the release of tenders / requests for proposals.
- Qualify opportunities and form bid/no-bid recommendations by assessing the client’s need and budget; the project’s scope, timeline, and fitness to IATA Consulting’s strategy and capabilities; the competitive landscape; etc.
- Prepare technical and commercial proposals that adequately reflect IATA’s value proposition, capabilities, credentials, etc. and present them to clients.
- Support the contracting process through closing of the deal.
Lead the delivery of the subsequent consulting engagements,
regionally in Europe, Middle-East and Africa but occasionally elsewhere in the
world:
- Supervise and direct the work of junior consultants, internal IATA subject matter experts, and/or external subcontractors in their delivery of the project.
- Contribute your own analysis, research, interviews, workshop facilitation, and written deliverables towards the delivery of the projects, including the development of Excel models and the preparation of PowerPoint presentations or Word reports.
- Attend and facilitate client or other stakeholder meetings (e.g., progress meetings, steering committees) as and when required by the project.
Project-manage the consulting engagements,
including:
- Ensure adherence of the project to the contractually-agreed scope, timeline, effort estimate, travel budget, and invoicing schedule.
- Manage any contract variances, project extensions, invoicing milestones, etc.
- Report to, and seek advice, guidance, and peer review from senior team members as and when needed to ensure swift progress and sound methodological choices.
Contribute to the life of the Consulting practice:
- Maintain a pipeline of opportunities and projects in the designated tool to ensure accurate revenue reporting, seek client feedback, prepare project credentials, etc.
- Report any market intelligence to the leadership team that is relevant and useful to the definition of the Consulting products and services;
- Follow internal policies including providing timely performance appraisals, timesheets, expense reports, etc.;
- Proactively seek performance feedback and training;
- Mentor junior consultants as appropriate, conduct their annual or per-project performance appraisals, and participate in the recruitment process as a senior member of the Consulting team.
We would love to hear from you if you have
A Bachelor's degree, Masters degree preferred;
Are currently (or have recently been) a Manager or Senior Manager at one or more management consulting firms including MBB, Tier-2, Big Four, and/or international boutiques;
A deep experience and understanding of the airline cargo sector;
A strong proficiency in applying consulting skills to Microsoft PowerPoint (storyboarding, proposal development, etc.) and Excel (analytical skills);
Impeccable oral and written English communication skills. Knowledge of another European or Asian language would be a plus.
