Your mission
The Manager of Bids and Business Development is part of the management team of Thales Alenia Space in Switzerland and is leading a small team consisting of:
In this function, the duties of the Manager Bids & Business Development are:
Responsibility to manager the overall business development and bids for TAS in Switzerland. For Optical Communications (OC) topics the main role is with the OC Product Manager & Capture Leader
Line management of the team and task distributions
Identify and capture business opportunities in-line with the product and capability portfolio in the following markets:
ESA;
ESA PRODEX, requiring interaction also with Swiss universities and R&D organizations;
Space and Mission Prime large and small companies;
Export Markets;
Within Thales Alenia Space:
Interact on regular basis with the key stake holders in TAS organization such as TAS / Thales Sales Team, Key Account managers, Product Line Managers, Capture Teams, Bid Teams
Identify and capture new product development opportunities
Identify new product opportunities
Develop and present the business case
Secure development funding from public sector (such as ESA programs or Horizon Europe) or customers
Initiate and oversee the Proposal preparation linked to the identified business opportunities
Initiate the proposal process ( Gate 0 / Gate 1) and either manage the hand-over to the proposal capture leader or act as the appointed capture leader
Support the proposal capture leader and bid team until contract signature, during the proposal preparation with customer interaction, value proposition, customer need identifications etc
In the frame of bid:
Act as capture manager
Responsible for the Bid milestone implementation
Responsible for the execution of the gates and the preparation of the gates data package
Validation of gates data package prepared by other team members
Preparation and/or validation of pricing information
Lead bid negotiations up to contract signature
Take care of Offset aspects
Capturing opportunities with Swiss MoD
Capture leader and responsible for business development for radiation monitors, cameras and future product lines
We look forward to that
5 years of experiences of working in business development or sales activities for space
Very good communication and presentation skills, strong ability in elevator-speech
Ability to understand the needs of the counterpart and in adapting to different counterpart styles and needs
Strong self-organization ability, pro-active attitude, strong in planning activities and executing accordingly
Comfortable in working with evolving boundaries and easy to re-configure the work-plan accordingly
Very good in networking within the Thales Alenia Space organization, with partners, competitors, agencies and funding stakeholders
English fluently (working language), of advantage communication ability in French and Italian
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
