L3Harris Flight Data Services has the largest flight data monitoring platform in the world; the Software Engineering Team supports & develops capabilities and ad-hoc analysis for this platform. As a Data Scientist, you will receive training and support to enable your role. You will produce analytical reports and answer customer requests, working alongside experienced flight data specialists. You will build machine learning models to find hidden patterns in our data and present results of analyses and models in a customer friendly manner. Our data is typically time series sensor data, and you will be required to process and clean the data in order to produce suitable metrics. We also expect you to curate and maintain dashboards with valuable insights using data stored in data warehouse.
You will receive training and will grow your data science skills, and be an engaged member of the team. From time to time you may attend conferences relevant to the ongoing work.

Main responsibilities:
As a member of the R&D data science team, you will (with support and guidance):
- Produce analytical reports and answer customer requests, working alongside experienced flight data specialists.
- Liaise with customers for ad-hoc data analysis and development of predictive models using a variety of data sources.
- Present the results of the analyses and models in a customer friendly manner.
- Produce dashboards and insights using the data warehouse
- handle complex time series flight data, data cleaning, feature extraction
- Be responsible for development of predictive models using machine learning, and receive adequate support & training.
Knowledge, skills and qualifications:
- Understanding of statistics, and ability to pick correct methods to produce valuable insights
- Working knowledge of ML models and applications
- Working experience with data analysis
- Experience with Python/R and their plotting libraries
- Experience with Jupyter Notebooks or similar
- Working knowledge of databases and SQL queries.
- The ability to clean/transform database content and to analyse and interpret data.
- Ability to plan work and meet deadlines.
- Clarity of communication and problem-solving skills.
