Job Description Summary
The Lead Test Engineer will own the processes of prepping, de-prepping, and testing aircraft engines in the Pittsburgh facility. The Lead Test Engineer will be engaged in leading problem-solving situations with cross functional teams while constantly identifying opportunities to improving current processes.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
Learn complex test facility operations while gaining overall engine mechanics and systems level knowledge.
Utilize leadership skills in project management type setting, overseeing day-to-day operations and identify opportunities to improve current processes for engine prep, de-prep, test, and teardown.
Lead integration of NPI within the test operations.
Ability to learn how to troubleshoot issues with engine operation, instrumentation, and test facilities.
Able to extract and interpret engine test data.
Ability to communicate with cross-functional teams to facilitate the identification of root cause and corrective action for any issues found during engine prep- de-prep, setup, test, and/or teardowns.
Develops integrated, appropriately phased and scoped program and resource plan across multi-disciplined team to deliver validated products that meet technical, cost, and schedule requirements. Manages execution through technical communication, proactive reviews, problem resolution, and risk abatement.
Understands applicable regulations, establishes means of compliance, plans, and executes analysis/test to support components, engine, and aircraft systems cert/qual requirements. Ensures certification and qualification documentation is approved in a timely manner.
Creates, develops, matures, and leverages innovative technologies and processes that provide competitive advantages.
Understands the key factors that cause failures; identifies reliability risks and designs mitigation plan; leverages lessons learned; anticipates and understands failure modes based on predicted environment, materials, and design.
Establishes feasible test strategy based on technical requirements, program requirements, and customer needs to understand, advance, or validate a design or concept.
Develops and manages overall technical plan to deliver test platform in alignment with cost and schedule requirements. Identifies and manages execution risk and opportunities.
Understands electrical, electronic, software validation and fit checks to support any troubleshooting associated to their failures impacting Test operations.

Lean Six Sigma training.
Demonstrated knowledge/experience with aircraft/engine test, maintenance hardware and procedures.
Previous "hands on" experience regarding the installation and/or maintenance of an engine test cell.
Experience using MS Office Suite products; to include Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook
Capable of working directly Test Technicians, Engineers, Quality Leaders, and different levels of management.
