Astronics Advanced Electrical Systems is seeking a Senior Safety & Reliability Engineer to join our Cabin Electronics Product Development Team in Redmond, WA. This is a hybrid on-site position that offers flexibility to work from home 2-3 days per week.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Safety and Reliability Engineer participates in the development of Cabin Passenger Power and Service Systems equipment for Air Transport Aircraft, performing analysis and creating documentation to demonstrate compliance to regulatory and customer reliability and safety objectives.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in the development of LRUs for Air Transport Aircraft.
- Perform Reliability, Hazard, Failure Mode and Effects and Fault Tree Analyses and LRU designs to regulatory and customer Reliability and Safety objectives.
- Collaborate with the Design Engineers to ensure reliability and safety requirements are adequately addressed in product implementation during preliminary design.
- Create and coordinate peer review of FMEA and LRU Safety Assessment document deliverables.
- Perform hardware fault insertion plans and procedures for lab tech to carry out.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- Four (4) or more years’ experience in Safety and Reliability Analysis for Commercial Transport Aircraft LRUs including:
- Functional Hazard Analysis and Mitigation Strategy
- Preliminary Safety Assessment Evaluations including establishing safety architecture schemes and derived safety requirement generation
- Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- System Safety Assessment along with Common Modes Analysis & Fault Tree Analysis
- Reliability prediction using RIAC-HDBK-217Plus methodology.
- Ability to understand electrical circuit functions and read schematic diagrams is required
- Excellent communication and team interaction skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in creating formal documentation in Microsoft Word are required
- Ability to proactively balance work to priorities and make and meet commitments on the programs you are assigned to is required
- Experience with Windchill/Relex software and 217Plus reliability prediction model is highly desired
- Familiarity with ARP-4761A System Safety process for Commercial applications is desired
EMPLOYMENT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- As a US Department of Defense Contractor, Astronics is bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Must be a US Person under ITAR to be eligible.

Salary range is $102,687 - $154,031 per year.
