Job Description:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising ten or more direct labor associates. Includes providing direction and guidance for all activities associated with the mechanical/electric wire assembly and test verification processes. In addition, communicates the manufacturing plan to staff and program teams, providing recommendations for efficiency as well as takes direction from the team members as necessary.
Essential Functions:
- Creates work detail schedule and assignments for direct labor
- Maintains direct labor charges through electronic timecard entry system
- Leads daily direction setting “Tier I” meetings with direct labor
- Maintains cell productivity goals and metrics
- Supports/leads Lean initiatives (5s audits/events, cell layout, e3 Kaizen events, etc.)
- Supports an open environment for cost reduction opportunities within production floor and support cost reduction opportunities throughout the cell
- Works directly with Manufacturing, Quality, Process and Engineers to address non conformances, trouble shoot for root cause and coordinate execution of rework
- Provides inputs to the Manager of Manufacturing on the operations budgets and accountable for meeting the established manufacturing budget for all programs
- Supports the Calibration Laboratory on the control of Inspection/Measuring/Test Equipment
- Creates and submits requisitions for expense item purchases (manufacturing consumables)
- Supports the development and implementation of the manufacturing processes required to concurrently develop and introduce new products and models from development to manufacturing
- Creates annual performance/behavior goals for direct labor, including the implementation of associate development plans and cadence of review/progress
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with 4 years prior relevant work experience. In lieu of degree, minimum 8 years prior experience.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams, engineering drawings and operating instructions
- Demonstrated intermediate or advanced use of Microsoft programs; Word, Excel, Office, Power Point, etc.
- Familiarity or experience working with union associates (low percent of workforce in this category)
- Must meet eligibility requirements to access US classified information
