NDE LEVEL II INSPECTOR, COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY (CT) – (STARLINK)
A CT Level II inspector position at SpaceX sits within the Starlink Reliability group. The CT NDE function is organized both within a dedicated production area and also alongside the NDE Engineering group to provide quality control, a diagnostic tool, failure analysis and protect product reliability. This group supports every program at SpaceX including Starship and Starlink, providing a unique opportunity to work on cutting edge technology within the spaces of PCB and Silicon Packaging.
We are looking for a talented individual to not only perform CT scans and data evaluation at a high-level but also to closely interface with the NDE and Engineering teams on new inspection requirements, data interpretation, and failure analysis. This successful individual should demonstrate intellectual curiosity, proven innovation, fast learning of advanced software, a collaborative work ethic, and excellent communication skills being able to discuss with the customer the confidence and limitations of any inspection when not following an established process.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform and optimize volumetric CT inspections with advanced equipment and software
- Perform volumetric reconstruction, evaluation, and interpretation of results
- Define inspection requirements with the customer and establish the optimum inspection solution
- Communicate and report findings to production and engineering
- Interpret and review engineering drawings as required
- Support the development of NDE inspection techniques
- Perform system maintenance/troubleshooting and ensure a safe environment
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- Non-Destructive Evaluation Level II certification in line with SNT-TC-1A or NAS-410 in Digital Radiography (DR) or Computed Tomography (CT)
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 2+ years of experience as a Level II non-destructive evaluation/testing inspector
- Radiation safety training/certification with IRRSP X-ray card
- 3+ months of experience performing digital radiography or CT inspections
- Knowledge of Nikon/ Avonix CT equipment and software
- Knowledge of advanced volumetric software analysis (Volume Graphics)
- Experience performing NDE testing within the Aerospace industry
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Willing to work all shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed. Estimated start times: 1st shift: 5:00am – 3:30pm; 2nd shift: 3:30 pm – 2:00am
- Ability to lift 25lbs unassisted, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, and walk
- Willing to work overtime to meet critical deadlines
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
NDE Inspector/Level 3: $33.00 - $44.75/hour
NDE Inspector/Level 4: $38.00 - $51.50/hour
NDE Inspector/Level 5: $43.00 - $58.25/hour
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
