Role Summary
The Pilot Training Program Director is the sole subject matter expert in all phases of strategic planning and regulatory compliance for Flight Operations Training activities for all strategy projects and instructional performance management. As an individual contributor, this role defines the long-term strategy for all pilot training programs using considerable latitude and initiative to make decisions in project assessment and strategy development at Alaska Airlines.
Key Duties

As the subject matter expert in strategic training projects, this role leads the planning process for Flight Operations Training, including project assessment and strategy development.

Designs, and successfully implements highly complex, innovative, long-term projects that will drive significant improvements for the pilot training programs.

Designs long term strategy for worldwide training operations leveraging understanding complex guidance from FAA and how to execute various aspects around fleet types and across the various divisions

Development of transition between fleet training programs understanding of multiple fleet types and likeliness.

Supports Boeing AQP department & Airbus N&O training department with regulatory guidance and oversight

Consults with the Managing Director and process owners to develop long-range strategy strategies to support key training initiatives and AQP for multiple fleet types.

Leverages expert knowledge in training and strategy with little or no guidance from senior management. Develops a unique end-state to provide Alaska with a training-specific competitive advantage that achieves adherence to performance objectives.

Responsible for strategy coordination to ensure all relevant stakeholders are involved in plan development. Initiates and conducts Safety Risk Analysis sessions to document planning and comparative risk evaluation.

Develops and maintains relationships with Alaska and Horizon training and operational division partners.

Collaborates with financial, planning & analysis team to support divisional budgets, variance reviews, and economic analysis required for capital and expense project needs.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
-
10 years of experience in pilot training and program management
-
Bachelor’s degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
-
Analytical and problem-solving skills to include financial analysis and spend management planning.

1500 hours as Captain and Check Pilot in 121 operations.

Ability to build influence across departments around company strategies.

Proven track record of developing and sustaining strong and collaborative relationships.

Demonstrated knowledge of FAA guidance and execution of such

Experience facilitating meetings and developing and delivering presentations.

Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Minimum age of 18.

Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Demonstrated change management skills and the ability to challenge the status quo.

Salary Range
$147,400 - $228,400 / year
Total Target Compensation Range (incl. bonus & equity)
$193,420.00 - $298,720.00
Salary Details
Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
