Avionics Test Engineering is seeking to fill a
Mechanical Engineering Internship position with a talented individual who is working toward a BSME degree.
Avionics Test Engineering offers an array of innovative test equipment solutions for Collins Aerospace products and programs. We serve internal customers, including our manufacturing and service centers, as well as external customers – domestic and international.
The primary responsibility for this position is to assist and work with the mechanical engineering team in developing new solutions and support ongoing process improvement initiatives. You will perform assignments requiring the use and application of beginning to moderate mechanical engineering principles and techniques.
What You Will Do:
- Review product designs and analyze development and design requirements
- Assist with design of test fixtures, cables, interconnects and prepare associated documentation
- Prepare and present project / technical information to peers, internal management and customers
- Utilize development and debug skills to improve mechanical aspects of automated production test equipment
- Excel in a collaborative team environment where the individual will interact with various engineering teams comprised of other mechanical engineers, mechanical drafters, electrical engineers, software engineers and system engineers.
What You Will Learn:
- Proficiency in CAD tools like SolidWorks and Siemens NX
- Best practices for documenting mechanical designs and getting them through drafting and review process to release high quality automated test equipment to the production floor
- How to network with and leverage a skilled and experienced mechanical engineering team across the US to grow and develop your Mechanical Engineering skillset
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
- Completed minimum first 2 years of bachelor's degree and will be considered a Junior/Senior by Summer 2025.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
