The opportunity
Systems Administrator will support and maintain C-17 training and operations in a networked environment on an ongoing basis, ensuring maintenance of certification and accreditation of the C17TS ICT Systems. The successful candidate must hold a current NV1 security clearance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all non-WST and non-CCT Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) IT hardware, including the DMO/DMT Gateway, NGTS, TMS network, LMS servers, and contractor networks.
- Collaborate with Simulation Device Technicians for hardware tasks, while overseeing software configuration and management.
- Assist with TMS administration tasks such as resetting passwords, clearing courses, installing updates, and replacing damaged equipment.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for ICT information.
- Implement and manage a vulnerability management strategy, reporting physical and cyber security vulnerabilities to the IT Security Officer (ITSO) and IT Security Manager (ITSM).
- Compile monthly security vulnerability reports and immediately report any changes affecting device risk profiles.
- Maintain service patches, antivirus, firewall, software, and drivers in accordance with SOPs for enhanced cybersecurity.
- Follow directives from the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), providing technical advice and conducting remedial actions as needed.
- Oversee system access control, configuration, backup and recovery, user account management, and data transfers, including classified data exports.
- Review and verify data export classifications, ensuring compliance with protective marking and logging requirements.
- Support systems integrity audits as per SOPs and the Configuration Management and Maintenance System (CMMS).
- Perform additional duties as assigned by C17TS supervisors or site lead.
Experience/Qualifications
Essential:
- A Certificate IV in IT, or equivalent, is preferred, as it covers a broad range of relevant skills, including:
- Hardware
- Networking
- Software
- Applications
- Web
- Cybersecurity
- Troubleshooting
- A current NV1 security clearance.
Desirable:
- Experience with specific systems such as Red Hat or Cisco is beneficial, but versatility in IT knowledge is prioritised.
- Successful completion of the Defence ComSec Course
