Job Purpose
As a Systems Engineer you will be part of the Business Intelligence (BI) application support team, providing Level 1 and Level 2 support to business-critical applications. In alignment with your Technical Lead, you will work closely with business SMEs, vendor and offshore teams to provide solutions built in-house, acquire packages and products and provide IT application support. You will be involved in requirements gathering including non-functional requirements, solution design reviews, interface control design and reviews, tech architecture reviews, unit test reviews, test scenario generation support, NFR testing and software delivery related quality assurance compliances. You will also play a key role in identification and adoption of new technologies, tools and processes that will improve business automation and changing needs of the business units.
Operational
- Assist Technical Lead in providing project estimate, ensure scalable/ resilient solution design sustainable to business requirements and all application NFRs are met.
- In day-to-day project activities, serve as technical expert to the team and ensure adequate & timely system support for business operations. Conduct root cause analysis of reported incidents and ensure timely issue fixes as per SLA.
- Play a key role in identification and adoption of new technologies, tools and processes that will improve business automation and changing needs of business units.
- Understand requirements and accordingly complete development in timely manner and ensure adoption of the solutions by the business units.
- Serve as a liaison between stakeholders and IT team on BI reports development, BI Data warehouse maintenance and Data Synchronization.
- Perform duties assigned by Project Manager/ Tech Lead
- Takes responsibility for the technical integrity of solution designs, ensuring that common technical elements are recognised, and that work is not unnecessarily duplicated.
- Assist in preparation and review of Release notes, prior to release of the application to Production.
- Conduct root cause analysis of reported incidents in operational systems and ensure timely fixes.
- Ensure that the solution reviews for the fixes, functionality is fully tested and then promoted following the software release management processes.
- Conduct proactive performance and fine tuning of Production applications for early detection and rectification of slow response transactions, application errors, query tuning etc and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- To enforce compliance to QRIT policies while selecting solution design components, and co-ordinates design activities, promoting the discipline to ensure consistency in the assigned projects. Ensures that appropriate standards (corporate, industry, national and international) are adhered to.
- Responsible for ensuring that solution design caters to functional, non-functional, security, service quality and systems management requirements.
- Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience
High School Qualification / Vocational Qualification /Diploma or Equivalent (Type of Diploma Based on Role) / Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 4 years of job-related experience
Essential
- Degree in Engineering / Computer Science / Mathematics / Sciences / Commerce/ relevant major.
- We are looking for a passionate, high-energy individual who understands Travel and Retail Industry.
- 5 years in a relevant architecture domain such as data, infrastructure, application, or business.
- Airport Retail Industry experience.
- Extensive experience in Business Intelligence (DB Skills: SQL , Postgress SQL, ETL Skills:Apache Nifi, Reporting: SSRS, Tableau, Power BI, SSMS, DBeaver, Seal etc.) and SQL Server Analytics Services with MDX Expressions.
- Experience in airport retail operations business process and IT systems is mandatory.
- Experience in evaluating business processes, anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement and developing and implementing solutions.
- Knowledge in latest process and IT advancements to automate and modernize systems
- Experience in performing requirements analysis and prioritizing initiatives based on business needs
- Experience in working with key stakeholders for Business Intelligence critical report.
Strong knowledge on below
- Data Extract, transform and load data operations using Apache Nifi from various sources
- Business intelligence and data warehousing concepts.
- Creation of SPs, views, UDFs in SQL and PostgreSQL
- Design, development of SSRS reports and Power BI dashboards.
- Reports Performance optimization.
- Knowledge on Reporting engine maintenance like reporting service maintenance, deployment, custom role-based security, subscriptions, execution logs etc. will be an added advantage. Experience on retail/inventory/finance domain is preferred.
Preferred
- Certification in Microsoft BI.
- Degree / Honours / master’s in engineering / computer science.
- Communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.
