The role
As a Armoury Technician you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The Armoury Technician is responsible and accountable for all tasks associated with operating the RAF Cranwell station armoury, range, and associated storage facilities. You will interact with military personnel with the issue, return and maintenance of weapons of weapons.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
- Issue, receipt, storage and maintenance of weapons both service and personal held in the Station Armoury and the recording of such issues and receipts iaw the current regulations.
- Maintenance of service weapons and associated equipment which are consistent with current training and qualifications to depth B, including authorised repairs.
- Assisting in carrying out Free from Explosive (FFE) duties when available.
- Covering Range Warden during periods of absence when available.
- Undertake Duty Armourer as detailed by Line manager.
This role is full time and based onsite at RAF Cranwell.
Essential experience of the Armoury Technician:
- Experience in a similar role.
- Knowledge of MOD Engineering procedures/documentation.
- Ability to demonstrate the practical and theoretical standards required.
Qualifications for the Armoury Technician:
- RAF Q-W-GDSA (Small Arms maintenance) or NVQ£ in Engineering.
- UK Driving Licence
- Colour perception standard of CP2
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC security clearance for this role.
