Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems (AES) is seeking an Engineering Technician to join our Cabin Electronics Power Team in Kirkland, WA.
The Cabin Electronics Product Group is the world’s leading manufacturer of in-seat power systems for the commercial airline industry. The group’s EmPower® product line provides a variety of scalable power solutions for aircraft passenger cabins and flight decks. The system is used by over 280 airlines, IFE suppliers, and all major aircraft OEM manufacturers worldwide.
JOB SUMMARY
The Engineering Technician will support engineering development and production of Aerospace electronic assemblies by performing complex technical tasks relating to Cabin Power Products. This role involves experience in equipment build, repair, and troubleshooting to the component level coupled with accurate document control for FAA reporting.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist development engineering with fabrication, assembly, and configuration of prototype devices from schematics, rough sketches, and verbal instructions.
- Troubleshoot electronic assemblies to the component level.
- Assemble and verify test fixtures, cables, and engineering proto-type assemblies.
- Conduct development verification testing of engineering proto-type assemblies.
- Conduct electrical, environmental, and EMI testing to industry standard requirements (DO-160, D6, ABD).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
- Associate degree (AS) in Electronics Technology or related field; or equivalent electronics military schooling and experience required.
*High-power electronics and/or high-power avionics technician experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. Total qualifying experience must meet the years, duties, skills and proficiency required to perform the position level standards.
- Demonstrates competency (typically 2-4 years of direct experience in the responsibilities of the position).

- Work with and provide support to research, design, and test engineering teams.
- Perform environmental and electrical qualification test activities.
- Have the capability to operate manual and automated test fixtures.

Technical Skills:
- Capability to provide technical support to research and development of new product designs.
- Operation of manual and automated test fixtures.
- Microsoft Office, Excel, Word.
- Electrical/electronic knowledge.
- Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer applications.
- Surface mount and through-hole soldering.
Physical Abilities:
- Manual dexterity

EMPLOYMENT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- As a US Department of Defense Contractor, Astronics is bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Must be a US Person under ITAR to be eligible.

Base Salary is $34.62 - $51.93 per hour.
