Maintenance Mechanic Trainee will assist in the resolution of routine maintenance issues, including the installation of piping runs new and existing, equipment relocation, daily scheduled equipment maintenance and emergency repairs. Within this position, individuals develop maintenance skills while performing a wide variety of duties to keep safety systems, mechanical equipment, physical structures, grounds, and facilities in proper working order.

- Complete all jobs correctly and timely to ensure quality and customer satisfaction.
- Assist in the installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining of various systems along with numerous pieces of equipment.
- Responsible for basic facility maintenance, such as shoveling walkways, changing light bulbs, hanging shelving, etc.
- Move facility materials and equipment by using hoists, rollers, and/or other lifting aids such as forklifts.
- Prepare equipment for repair by disassembling components.
- Assist with reassembling equipment in a manner that ensures proper equipment operation.
- Fabricate wooden, metal, or plastic facility needs with machine tools, welders, and/or cutting torches.
- Utilize company vehicle to pick up and deliver parts and equipment.
- Maintain assigned and shared department tooling.
- Actively participate in lean activities and continuous improvement.
- Stand (up to 50% of the time), walk (up to 75% of the time), push/pull (up to 50% of the time), lift (up to 40% of the time), reach (up to 40% of the time), bend 90 degrees (up to 25% of the time), kneel (up to 25% of the time), climb (up to 25% of the time), squat/crouch (up to 20% of the time), twist 45 degrees (up to 10% of the time), and sit (up to 10% of the time).
- Frequently lift materials between ten and 35 pounds and occasionally lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to wear a respirator substantiated via quantitative fit testing and Level A personal protective equipment.
Qualifications
Work Experience
Required
- Two years maintenance work experience or Vocational or Industrial Maintenance Certification
Preferred
- Understanding of the operation of facility equipment and processes
- Familiarity with an equipment and asset management software i.e., INFOR EAM
- Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical infrastructure
- Demonstrated experience with continuous improvement
Education
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred
- Technical/Vocational training in one of the following fields.
- Industrial Maintenance, Welding, Electrical, Electromechanical.
Certifications
Required
- Valid driver’s license
- Trade certification relevant to the job.
- Completion of all Parker Lord required training
Preferred
- Forklift Certification
- OSHA 30
