Summary:
As an Intern you will learn and assist with daily functions in accordance with Allegiant’s Benefits, Compensation, Leave and Workers Compensation guidelines and policies. You will have the opportunity to learn about federal and state laws and regulations including FMLA, USERRA, CFRA, PPACA, and HIPAA, IRS125 Plans, etc.

Combination of Education and Experience will be considered. Must be authorized to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986. Must pass a Criminal Background Check.

Education Details:
To be qualified to apply, intern candidates should be currently enrolled in a College or University, or a recent graduate within the last twelve months with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
•Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (emphasis in Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
•Understanding of general HR practices and processes.
•Knowledge of all general office equipment, e.g. computer, fax, printer, copier, scanner, multi-line phone system, and calculator.
•Sound multi-tasking and self-organization capabilities within tight timelines.
•Strong attention to detail while being results and solution driven.
•History of working independently with little direction.
•Demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive working relationships.
•Must demonstrate a sense of urgency and follow-up.
•Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Preferred Requirements:
•Working knowledge of UKG.
•Prior experience or coursework in HR or benefits administration.
•Strong interest in employee benefits and HR practices.
•Bachelor's degree or currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Job Duties:
•Answering phone calls and fielding Team Member questions.
•Prepare and distribute LOA reports.
•Monitor leave tracking process for accuracy and timely notifications.
•Track and answer inquiries for LOA benefit billing process and assist in the administration as needed.
•Prepare short-term and long-term disability forms.
•Assist with establishing and communicating light duty assignments.
•Generate benefit invoices for Team Members on LOA.
•Audit daily reports for Team Members as LOA comes to an end and assist with return to work.
•Prepare wage statements for Workers’ Compensation claims.
•Monitor compensation jira portal and maintain jira tracking spreadsheet.
•Assist with job description creation/updating.
•Route new and updated job descriptions for DOT/CHRC/SIDA/KCM/CASS designations/approvals.
•Monitor LOA status for Pilot, FA and MX CBA Team Members. Identify need for longevity date adjustments.
•Sort and scan Benefit/LOA/Compensation mail which will consist of vendor correspondence and payments made by mail.
•Assist in the administration of employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, supplemental benefits and retirement plans.
•Support the benefits enrollment process, including new hire enrollments, changes, and terminations.
•Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits.
•Assist with the preparation and distribution of benefits communication materials.
•Participate in benefits-related projects and initiatives, such as wellness programs and open enrollment.
•Complete reach-out calls to assist Team Members in completing their benefits enrollment.
•Assist with capturing arrears and other deduction validation processes.
•Model Allegiant’s customer service standards in personal actions and when providing direction.
•Perform other benefit, leave of absence/workers compensation and compensation related administrative tasks as assigned.

Office - While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, see, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, key board, printer, and phone. May be required to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 20 lbs. May be required to work various shifts/days in a 24-hour situation. Regular attendance is a requirement of the role. Exposure to moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones, printers, and foot traffic), temperature and light fluctuations. Ability to work in a confined area as well as the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time. Some travel may be a requirement of the role.
