Summary
The Benefits Specialist III is responsible for administering team member benefits programs, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing expert guidance to team members on benefits-related matters. This role involves analyzing and improving benefits offerings, resolving complex benefits issues, and collaborating with HR and external vendors to deliver comprehensive benefits solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in benefits administration, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with Team Members at all levels.

Combination of Education and Experience will be considered. Must be authorized to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986. Must pass a Criminal Background Check.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Education Details: Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
Years of Experience: Minimum six (6) years of benefits experience.
Preferred Requirements
•Time Management: Efficiently prioritize and manage multiple benefits projects and tasks to meet deadlines and ensure timely delivery of benefits services. This includes developing and adhering to project timelines, coordinating with various stakeholders, and proactively addressing any delays or obstacles to maintain smooth operations.
•Compliance Oversight: Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, and COBRA, as well as vendor benefit contract requirements. Act as a resource for managers and directors relating to benefit compliance.
•Communication: Develop and maintain clear, effective communication channels to ensure team members are well-informed about their benefits. Level III interacts with Leaders and Team Members. For external contacts acts independently except where contracts / SPD modifications are involved. Able to present benefit related information to groups independently. Communication is developed independently and needs little editing. Collaborates on communication responses with supervisors where there are difficult or unfavorable situations that have been elevated to Senior Leaders.
•Analytical and Problem Solving: Utilize strong analytical skills to assess and interpret benefits data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights. Proactively address and resolve complex benefits issues by applying critical thinking and innovative problem-solving techniques. This includes conducting root cause analysis, evaluating potential solutions, and implementing effective strategies to enhance benefits programs and resolve team member concerns.
•Autonomy: Operate with a high degree of independence, taking initiative to manage and execute benefits-related projects and tasks with minimal supervision. This includes making informed decisions, setting priorities, and proactively identifying and addressing potential issues to ensure the smooth administration of benefits programs.
•Microsoft Office Proficiency: Utilize advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel for data analysis and reporting, Word for creating detailed benefit communications, and PowerPoint for developing engaging presentations. Ensure accurate and efficient management of benefits related information and effective communication of benefits programs through these tools.
•Teamwork: Commitment to customer service and ability to work in a team-oriented environment with a strong attention to detail.
Job Duties
•Level III – Demonstrate understanding, support and contribute to the People Services Culture by embodying it in all interactions, teaching others, and taking ownership for continuous improvement.
•Design and conduct comprehensive benefits orientations for new hires, providing detailed information about available benefits options, enrollment procedures, and key deadlines. Ensure new team members understand their benefits packages and how to access and utilize their benefits effectively.
•Coordinate and manage the annual open enrollment process, including preparing and distributing communication materials, conducting informational sessions, and assisting team members with their benefits selections. Ensure all team members are informed about changes to benefits plans and deadlines and provide support to address any questions or issues that arise during the enrollment period.
•Collaborate with the payroll department to accurately capture and process arrears related to benefits deductions. Ensure timely and precise adjustments are made for any missed or incorrect deductions and communicate with team members to explain any changes to their payroll and benefits contributions.
•Qualifying Life Events: Manage and process team member requests related to qualifying life events (QLEs). Ensure timely updates to benefits elections and provide guidance to team members on the documentation required and the impact on their benefits.
•Qualified Medical Support Orders: Administer and comply with Qualified Medical Support Orders (QMSOs), ensuring that dependent children receive the required health coverage.
•Submit eligibility enrollments and update data to third party administrators (TPA).
•Act as liaison with benefit vendors.
•Draft, review, edit, update and distribute voluntary and required benefits communications.
•Create and maintain updated information on the G4connect benefit’s related pages.
•Conduct monthly benefit carrier bill reconciliation.
•Update and reconcile benefit arrears.
•Create pay period benefits deduction files for payroll.
•Support the production and distribution of annual 1095Cs.
•Arrange wellness events, flu shots and annual health fair.
•Lead annual compliance and audit activities as needed.
•Create and run monthly reporting as needed.
•Train and mentor Specialist II and I.
•Model Allegiant’s customer service standards in personal actions and when providing direction.
•Other responsibilities as assigned.

Office - While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, see, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, key board, printer, and phone. May be required to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 20 lbs. May be required to work various shifts/days in a 24-hour situation. Regular attendance is a requirement of the role. Exposure to moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones, printers, and foot traffic), temperature and light fluctuations. Ability to work in a confined area as well as the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time. Some travel may be a requirement of the role.
