The role:
As a Power Plant Team Leader at British Airways, you will lead and inspire a team of engineers and provide expert technical leadership and proactive support to the wider business. You will lead the team and be responsible for the safety, reliability, and operational performance of the engine types with significant influence on the total operating cost. This role requires significant technical support experience, including knowledge of engines, associated systems and aircraft generally.
It is a role that will require you to motivate and encourage your team to design and develop innovative technical solutions to issues affecting our fleet by working collaboratively with the manufacturers, maintenance providers, component and systems suppliers and your colleagues across the airline. The diverse and extensive fleet of engines means you must be ready to embrace new technologies, learning and leading every day in the implementation of new and better maintenance methodologies and processes.
What you’ll do:
- Monitor engine technical performance. Develop and Deliver improvement plans.
- Manage the safety and compliance of the fleet, identifying key risks and issues & deliver effective mitigation plans.
- Engage, Develop, and lead safety OEM, MRO, Internal customers, and stakeholder relationships.
- Lead a small team of technical specialists, setting objectives and managing team performance, efficiency, and compliance with corporate & regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate manufacturer technical documents & industry data - implementing requirements, recommendation & developing industry best practises.
- Develop and manage the maintenance plan for engines.
- Contribute to support the business plan & annual finance plan development delivery.
- Make effective business decisions combining complex business information, understanding the departmental context &recognising the broader implications to lowest lifetime cost-of-ownership & FP/BP targets.
What you’ll bring to British Airways:
- HNC/HND plus relevant practical experience or:
- Degree in an engineering subject
- Experience in Aerospace design, manufacturing, or Aircraft maintenance environment.
- CAA or company approvals in Part-CAMO, Part-M, Part-145 and/ or Part 21 CCE/CVE as appropriate
- Demonstrable structured leadership training.
