To provide all necessary and required under-wing ground support services as contracted by the customer to include but not be limited to loading and unloading baggage, cargo and mail.
Responsibilities
- Drive and/or operate ground support equipment in accordance to GSE License provided (Equipment’s to include Push back / Air tow tractors, belt loaders, container loaders, baggage tugs, aircraft ground power units, aircraft air start units, air stairs, Air condition Units, baggage carts, cargo dollies, Water & Lavatory trucks, vehicles, Crew and passenger vans) in a safe and efficient manner in accordance to GSE License provided and within designated areas
- Marshall aircraft during arrival and departure
· Ensure that company equipment is secured from loss or damage
· Reporting any incident, accident or Damage of Aircraft or GSE in accordance with the written procedures
· Uphold and protect the company’s interests and image while at the Airside
· Protect customer (airlines) supplied products e.g. ULD’s, Straps, Aircraft etc. from loss or damage by strictly adhering to written down procedures
· Preparing the ramp/apron area in readiness for provision of quality service to our customer carrier by setting up serviceable equipment, ensuring the equipment is parked within safe zones and performing FOD checks
· Inspect ramp areas adjacent to gate and aircraft for debris and remove/dispose of when found and maintain a tidy working environment
· Loading and offloading aircraft hold of customer airlines passenger luggage and air cargo, bulk and/or containers/pallets, onto carts and/or dollies as instructed by the Ramp Team leader or person appointed to undertake flight loading / Supervision
- Unload wheelchairs and child strollers and deliver to designated location
- Collect and load mail, live animals, wheelchairs and child strollers onto aircraft
- Load ULD and PAL according to Loading Instruction and place locks in hold in correct positions according to applied version
- Check cargo and baggage for signs of hazards as per DGR requirements
- Provide special handling of luggage/cargo as required/directed (including cars)
· Comply with all Swissport, airport authority, and carrier security requirements and ensure that driving license and Airside Driving Permit is valid at all times
· Strictly adhere to ramp safety rules and regulations at all times
· . Ensure compliance with uniform standards in line with appearance, and personnel protective equipment policies (PPE, uniform cleanliness etc.)
· Ensuring serviceability of company equipment before operating it and reporting to the Team Leader / GSE Technician where the equipment has been found to have a defect
- Report all equipment malfunctions to the appropriate supervisor/manager
· Carry out any additional duties as instructed by management
Qualifications and Competencies
· Previous ramp experience a plus
· Valid driver’s license
· Good communication skills
· Language skills
· Must be able to work in severe weather
· Flexible to work on various shifts (days, evening, nights, weekends, and holidays)
· Excellent Health & Safety awareness
