About the team you are joining
Reporting to the Area Manager, South West Pacific, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting and executing IATA’s activities in the South West Pacific, including the delivery of IATA’s agenda and the achievement of the set objectives for the area.
What your day would be like
- Work collaboratively to support
the delivery of IATA’s agenda in the South West Pacific.
- Assist
in building and maintaining pro-active and professional relationships with
member airlines, airports, government department officials and other industry
stakeholders.
- Support
the Area Manager, South West Pacific and other team members to promote IATA’s
policies, positions, objectives, activities, services and products amongst
airlines, governments, regional organisations and other industry stakeholders.
- Assist in the coordination of
the local implementation of global projects, programmes and campaigns.
- Support the monitoring and reporting of aero-political,
economic and commercial developments in the area, assisting the South West
Pacific team in taking or recommending actions which are consistent with IATA’s
policies and objectives.
- Actively assist in all areas relating to operations, safety,
systems, external affairs and sustainability, in accordance with the need of
the South West Pacific.
- Support corporate fiscal, legal and regulatory compliance in
the South West Pacific.
- Work collaboratively to support commercial and business
development activities, including identifying new commercial opportunities,
monitoring market trends within the aviation regulatory framework and
identifying key customer profiles, competition trends and behaviours.
- Monitor and report on media developments and support the
development of coherent national communication strategies in support of IATA’s
objectives, programmes and policy positions.
- Actively support the organisation of IATA’s events in the
South West Pacific, including representing IATA at local and regional industry
events, and assisting with the visits of IATA’s Senior Managers and/or Subject
Matter Experts.
- Any other
responsibilities, as determined by the Area Manager, South West Pacific.
We would love to hear from you if
- You have a university
degree in Aviation, Business Administration, Political Science or any other
relevant discipline. An advanced University degree would be an asset.
- Minimum
of 10 years of professional experience with at least five years of experience
in a similar role.
- Sound
understanding and knowledge of government and regulatory frameworks.
- Well-developed
negotiation and lobbying skills and possessing a high level of cultural
intelligence.
- A well-established understanding of
airport operations and environmental sustainability initiatives in the aviation
sector is an advantage.
- Entrepreneurial
flair, with a strong commercial acumen.
- Able
to work in a small team environment.
- Sound
knowledge of information technology systems and their applications.
- Excellent
interpersonal and communication skills.
- Fluency
in English is essential, whilst knowledge of French and other regional
languages would constitute an advantage.
- Must be able to legally work in
Australia and hold appropriate residency or citizenship status.
