Senior Manager, Safety

Role Purpose
To lead, manage and continuously improve the organization's Safety Management System (SMS) and Safety, Health, Security & Environment (SHSE) program in accordance with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and organizational objectives. The incumbent ensures effective integration of safety practices across all levels and functions of the MRO, promoting a strong safety culture and compliance with national and international standards.
Key Accountability
- Leadership & Governance
- Provide guidance and direction for the effective operation and continuous improvement of the organisation's SMS and SHSE framework.
- Act as the independent safety authority within the organization, separate from operational oversight, to ensure impartial decision-making on safety matters.
- Champion a proactive safety culture and ensure alignment with corporate safety strategies and regulatory requirements.
- Strategic Planning & Advisory
- Advise senior management on all safety-related matters, including risks, compliance, audit findings, and performance metrics.
- Prepare strategic plans, safety reviews, and performance reports to drive accountability and decision-making.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the primary liaison for safety-related issues with regulatory bodies (e.g., CAAM, DOSH, DOE, etc.), external auditors, and third-party service providers.
- Maintain effective relationships with government agencies, industry partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Operational Integration
- Collaborate with operational departments, senior managers, and functional heads to implement and monitor safety and SHSE policies, procedures, and risk management tools.
- Facilitate the identification, analysis, and mitigation of operational hazards through Safety Risk Management (SRM) principles.
- Training & Awareness
- Oversee safety training programs to ensure personnel competence in safety and environmental responsibilities.
- Promote continuous learning through workshops, safety campaigns, and feedback mechanisms.
- Incident Management & Investigation
- Support and monitor reporting, investigation, and follow-up of safety occurrences and incidents in line with the Safety Management System and company policy.
- Collaborate with the Compliance Monitoring team to analyze trends and ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively.
- Regulatory Compliance & Audit
- Ensure compliance with all local and international safety regulations including CAAM, ICAO Annex 19, Part 145, and OSH guidelines.
- Lead or participate in internal and external audits related to SMS and SHSE functions.
- Succession & Delegation
- In the absence of the incumbent, the Manager, Quality & Safety (Safety & Investigation) shall assume responsibility for the role.
- Deputise for Head Quality & Safety.
Qualifications & Working Experience
- Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License with multiple categories; or
- Degree in Aerospace or Aeronautical or other relevant discipline.
- More than 10 years in aviation industry, of which:
- 5 years in Quality and/or Safety role; and
- 5 years in Managerial position.
