Role Introduction
Reports to: Digital Enablement Manager – Integrated Operations Delivery
Cathay has established an Integrated Operations (IOP) with the vision to “orchestrate operational excellence through cutting-edge planning solutions, digital innovation, and insights, enabling Cathay to become the world’s most resilient and efficient airline”.
Within IOP, the Operations Performance & Optimisation focuses on enhancing Cathay's Operations Planning and Delivery by implementing advanced digital optimisation capabilities, aiming to improve Cathay’s operational performance holistically.
Within the team, this role is responsible for productising data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning (ML) models into trusted, operationalised "insights-as-a-service" that power proactive decision-making within Cathay's day-to-day operations. The Product Lead will drive the build and deployment of predictive analytics capabilities, such as the Operations Insights Generator and Operations AI Agent, to directly enhance operational resilience and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- AI Product Management: Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of AI/ML products, from concept and business case through to development, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement of models (e.g., delay prediction). Develop and maintain the domain product roadmap in alignment with the overarching Integrated Operations Delivery programme strategy
- Delivery & Operationalisation: Work closely with the Cathay technology delivery teams (Data Scientists and software engineers) to define business requirements, oversee model development, perform model testing and validation, and successfully integrated into operational workflows
- Model Explainability & Trust Building: Design and implement together with the Cathay technology teams strategies to explain model outputs to frontline users and managers, building trust and ensuring understanding and adoption of AI-driven insights
- Cohesive Product Design: Partner with the Situational Awareness Product Lead to ensure AI insights are effectively consumed and actioned within the Ops360 application and other operational systems
- Business Transformation: Act as a champion for a data-driven culture, educating and supporting OSD teams in leveraging predictive insights within the Operations Decision Model (ODM)
- Stakeholder & Vendor Management: Engage with business stakeholders to identify AI opportunities and with technology vendors or research partners to evaluate and leverage emerging innovations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Design, Innovation Management, Strategic Design, Data & AI Strategy, or related discipline
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in a product management or lead analyst role, with a proven track record of leading digital transformation within complex organisations
- Demonstrated ability to work across business, technology, and data domains—translating strategy into tangible product concepts
- Knowledge of airline operations and experience in operationalising AI/ML models is highly advantageous
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual thinking with the ability to define value hypotheses and success metrics for AI initiatives.
- Proven stakeholder engagement and excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Understanding of responsible AI principles, business process redesign, and emerging AI product trends
- Curious, meticulous, and self-motivated with a strong continuous improvement mindset
