The retail proposition encompasses many categories from food and beverage to luxury gifts, all of which must be delivered to the passenger in a space and time challenged environment.
Reporting to the
Senior In-Flight Retail Product Manager, our
In-Flight Retail Buyer plays crucial role in ensuring the successful commercial delivery of the proposition through effective management of range, pricing, margin and promotions for the onboard sales piece.

What You'll Do
Range Sourcing:
- Utilise category management principles to define and manage the ideal range selection, including negotiation of cost prices/supplier support to deliver the range to the commercial benefit of Jet2.com
- Source and develop new retail products for the airline to offer customers a point of difference; development of relationships with suppliers within and outside of the Travel Retail Industry
- Develop and implement a clear product strategy
- Define and implement a clear promotional strategy
- Define and achieve commercial goals, improving the sales and profitability of In-Flight Retail
- Work collaboratively with the Operations and Trading teams, to ensure the end-to-end product decision matrix is optimised
Range Management
- Maintaining Range detail and admin for all relevant systems and stakeholders.
- Managing samples, images for new range and existing for our In-Flight Retail Operations Centre (ROC) and Catalogue requirements for Jet2shop.
- Management of the crew and customer incentives.
- Organisation of range showcases – Cabin Crew, Retail Operation Centre, Head Office.
- Onboarding of new suppliers and retail agreements.
Marketing
- Negotiating supplier funded marketing activity within Jet2cafe and Jet2shop.
- Working alongside the In-Flight & Retail Revenue Customer Experience Manager to deliver In-Flight Retail communication.
- Delivery of In-Flight Shopping brochure, Jet2shop; development of the publication with Jet2.com’s preferred agency, in terms of content, layout, supplier advertising, photography and copy and full management of the critical path for onboard delivery.
- Management of all additional In-Flight Retail Marketing; create effective marketing campaigns and promotions via Web, e-mail & airport literature.
What You'll Have
- Experience of buying in an FMCG role in the food/beverage/health & beauty sector in a major multiple environment is advantageous.
- Excellent numerical ability.
- Strong organisational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and stakeholder management.
- Commercially astute with outstanding negotiation skills.
- Able to manage complex workloads through effective prioritisation of self and others.
- Strong commercial presentation skills.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint etc.
