Job Summary:
The Senior General Accountant plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial operations across KSA and UAE. This position supports end-to-end accounting processes including general ledger management, payroll and labor reporting, balance sheet and bank reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit support. The role ensures strong financial controls, compliance with country-specific regulations, and timely financial insight to support effective business decision-making.
The candidates’ responsibilities will include:
What You Will Do:
- Maintain, review, and update financial records, journals, and general ledger entries for KSA and UAE entities.
- Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and analyze variances to ensure financial accuracy.
- Track operating expenses and base performance and support preparation of monthly financial reports and analysis.
- Develop and support monthly operating review packages to monitor performance against forecast targets.
- Manage and support labor reporting and monthly payroll processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with KSA and UAE labor and regulatory requirements.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation, explanations, and ensuring readiness.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and regulatory requirements, including KSA-specific labor and business regulations.
- Identify questionable transactions, investigate discrepancies, and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Support geographically dispersed teams across MENA, collaborating closely with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Enforce adherence to financial policies and procedures and demonstrate initiative in resolving aged items or outstanding issues.
- Perform various financial support tasks to ensure smooth day-to-day finance operations and business continuity.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires: A University Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
- Strong analytical and financial problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy when working with financial data
- Excellent time management and prioritization abilities
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and controls
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams
- Strong system and financial tools proficiency
- Ability to operate in a dynamic, fast-changing regulatory environment
- Ability to develop knowledge of key financial systems and tools (SAP, Excel, PowerPoint)
Qualifications We Value:
- Knowledge of IFRS and USGAAP.
- Experience with Value Added Tax (VAT) as it relates to the conduct of business
- SAP or other major ERP with experience in transaction processing, data mining and report generation preferable
- Knowledge of the KSA on-line banking systems
- Strong understanding of general financial and accounting policies and procedures
