Our client is seeking a Senior Scrum Master (Remote) to support cross-functional teams in delivering digital transformation and service modernization projects across the Government of Alberta using agile methodologies.
Must Have Skills
- Active Certified Scrum Master certification
- Experience in coaching teams on Agile methodologies, facilitating agile ceremonies, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration (2+ years)
- Experience leading and facilitating key agile ceremonies (4+ years)
- Experience working within an agile development environment (5+ years)
- Experience with software development processes and associated best practices, tools, and standards (5+ years)
- Experience planning work aligned with product owner priorities (Sprint/backlog planning) (2+ years)
- Experience delivering training sessions via web-based platforms (e.g., MS Teams) (2+ years)
- Experience with Agile backlog management tools (JIRA, Azure DevOps) (2+ years)
- Experience working in or for the public sector (2+ years)
- Experience with UX design, service design, design thinking, or human-centered design (2+ years)
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor cross-functional teams in Agile principles, policies, and procedures.
- Facilitate agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, demos, retrospectives, and ad hoc sessions.
- Coach teams on sprint commitment strategies, backlog refinement, external dependency management, and issue resolution.
- Support Product Owners with reporting, release planning, and roadmap alignment.
- Track and report sprint progress through metrics and artifacts (e.g., burndown charts, backlogs).
- Participate in user research, usability testing, and other digital service activities.
- Ensure delivery aligns with user and business needs, updating deliverables iteratively throughout project lifecycles.
