Astronics-PECO, located in picturesque Clackamas, Oregon near the foothills of Mt. Hood, designs, certifies, manufactures, and sells a wide range of products to commercial, government, and military markets throughout the world. Our highly engineered interior and structural aerospace products are supplied to the largest aircraft manufacturers and are installed in aircraft around the globe, and our military products are used in critical national defense applications. The Max-Viz enhanced visions systems (EVS) are designed and certified for use as an improvement to safety by a vast array of airplanes, helicopters, and unmanned-aerial-vehicles in the commercial, government, and military marketplace. PECO-Controls are well established temperature control devices designed for applications where high quality is a must, such as the hospitality industry, commercial cooking, and other critical applications.
We are looking for a Tooling Engineering Technician to join our team. In this role you will be working with the tooling engineers, tool room team, and operators to provide administrative and technical support.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop training materials for tooling maintenance procedures
- Maintain toolroom spare parts inventory levels and places orders as needed
- Assist with identifying where new tooling could improve production efficiency
- Organize and maintain tooling documentation and records within ERP and other software
- Support internal and external tooling audits and inventory control processes
- Inspect and measure tooling using precision measuring equipment
- Support the design of simple tooling and fixtures for manufacturing
- Troubleshoot tooling and fixturing in use on production floor
- Review and validate CAD model revisions are current and reflect physical tooling
Desired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experiences:
- High School Diploma or GED required, associate’s degree in engineering or equivalent preferred
- 1-3 years of manufacturing experience preferred, with hands-on experience in molds, dies, jigs, or fixtures being a major plus.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, with strong communication skills for writing reports and emails.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes like injection molding, die casting, CNC machining, or manual machining is strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and analyze technical drawings and procedures with ease.
- Familiarity with CAD systems (SolidWorks, NX, or CATIA) is a bonus but not required.
- Comfort with mathematical concepts such as geometry, trigonometry, and statistical inference.
- Problem-solving skills to navigate situations with limited standardization.
